Glad we didn't offer Whiteny a second year (if we made him an offer at all). I wanted him, but giving multiple years to a 40 year old scares me.
I would have been ok with us offering him the same $$$ and term that Dallas did. Probably in the miniority on that. Wouldn't have gonre any higher, though. Two years would bridge the gap to Kuznetsov. We have the cap space.

Shocking.
Check the free agent signings so far. When Ray Whitney and Kuba are your biggest names, there's simply just not a heck of a lot going on.

Now I understand what is the gameplan of the Calgary GM.

By signing Wideman to this ridiculous contract what happens. Prices for the generally limited defense available goes up. Look at Kuba signing.

As a result Bouwmeesters contract looks like a bargain and he gets higher return on a trade.

Caps aren't signing anyone, and our main competitors are gearing up to load up. People on this board have reason to be upset. Caps have 16+m in salary they can add after QO's and Poti LTIR. Sitting around w that blows, frankly.

How may times in the Ovechkin era have the Caps not signed anyone at the beginning of the free agent period when they've had cap space?

You do realize that none of the big named free agents have signed?

I still have hope that GMGM suprises me. We can't just trade for every new player....

Should've signed Kuba for that if we're not holding out for better defensemen.

The work he did with Karlsson was a thing of beauty.

And holy crap is Methot underrated. Closer to Alzner than Schultz when healthy and firing on all cylinders. He didn't get that contract just because.

Prust to Montreal. 4 x $2.5M. Free agency is expensive.

Looking at LeBrun's Twitter, i'd guess Suter won't sign until tommorow....dissapointing day.

Also, Spain dominating.

I said gearing up to load up. All of the above, except Bruins. They only have like 3m in space.

Caps are down what-- 4 or 5 players, and that's including Ribeiro? I *hope* I'm wrong, but if I can get a good brooding session going, I will.

Brood to win, people. Brood To Win.

Id be shocked to see Galiev make this team let alone play in the top 6.
Don't see Parise signing here, ......McPhee has to make a trade for a top 6 player......this team cannot stand pat with what it has.
