2.5 per for Prust, lol. Good for him though. So we didn't just save 800 grand. Good job Sather!

Difference in contract between asham and prust ends up being 8 million dollars. Thats a WHOLE lot of money.

If and when this 800k- has some affect on us signing someone, please let me know. Until then it's horrible...

Asham has a better scoring touch than Prust

The Prust deal just makes this look better. Good signing.

it's as if Sather makes one signing an off-season just to appease the fans that still think this is the 70s and want to see blood every game. Now that it's out of the way, I guess we can get down to serious matters and address some needs.

Prust is 100x the player Asham is, character guy plays his heart out every shift, great on the PK, protects his teammates. Easily worth double of what Asham brings, you'll see that when we play the Hab's next season as Asham is practically invisible and Prust is all over the place. Not even close...Horrible. Sure Prust got a little overpaid, like everyone else, but at least we can relish in the fact it wasn't us eh? fu**ing joke..

lol no he's not. Prust is a hell of a player, but Asham is probably right at the same level if not a bit better. Asham can fight the same guys Prust did...and win. Asham can fight bigger guys, and win. Asham can put more goals and more points up. Asham can hit, and hit HARD. Pruster was more of a blood sweat and guts kinda guy, but his toolset was quite limited.

saving 800k? Prust signed for 2.5 million. Thats 1.5 million in savings.

I loved Prust as much as any Ranger fan...but this post is so wrong I don't even know where to start...2.5 mill for Prust is way too much...good on Prust for getting the Habs to pay him

You have zero clue:

1) what you are talking about, and
2) what it takes to run a team, and
3) how economics influence signings

Prust got a LITTLE overpaid? He got paid twice of what he's worth. I would have been annoyed giving him anything over 1.3M.

Asham plays his heart out ever shift and protects his teammates. He doesn't PK but the rest of our team does.

Get a clue. Please.

Actually, he is Synergy27. I don't think that we have a poster named "a joke" on this board.

It matters to me when the line gets pinned in its own end.

Montreal finishes last in Eastern Conference.

Sign Brandon Prust.

Instant competition with Rangers.

Like I said, when this now 1.5 mil is a difference maker let me know.

I'm not saying Prust is worth 2.5, I am saying Asham is garbage.

So everyone in hockey is wrong but you're right?

Katie Strang ‏@KatieStrangESPN
#NYR Wowsa-level $$$ for Prust. Good for him. Tough as they come and beloved teammate. Smart of NYR to part ways at that cost, though

Andrew Gross ‏@AGrossRecord
Brandon Prust gets his $$ with #Canadiens, reported as four years, $10 million. Good for him, can't fault #NYR for not matching/coming close

Steve Zipay ‏@stevezipay
Just wow RT @CLoprestiWFAN: @stevezipay: RT @SpectorsHockey: Canadiens Sign Prust. http://spectorshockey.net/blog/canadiens-sign-prust/ 4 years, $10 mil. Too rich for NYR

Question... Is Asham the first to play for all 5 Atlantic teams? Probably not, maybe someone can help me out with this.

There's a reason this toolbag bounces around more than a tennis ball at Wimbledon, but it's all about the $$$, all of our armchair GMs can sleep comfortably knowing we didn't overpay for anyone, whew!!

i loved prust, but 1.5m saved (actually... 8m) for a player who brings some of the same at a lesser level is tolerable. that 8m goes toward dubinsky's pay.
