Well at least we are making sure the Ice Caps keep their roster intact. Good team down on the farm.

Meech was freakin' outstanding for the IceCaps in the playoffs. Sort of a tweener, maybe takes Flood's spot in the bullpen here.

This is becoming a Canada Day tradition for the Jets. First FA signing announcement that they made last July 1 was the signing of Derek Meech.

As said in the GDT, good to see him back, he was stellar in the AHL playoffs and from what I was reading out of St. John's, was a positive vet giving a leadership presence to our prospects.
I imagine he'll mostly stay down there next year, but a good versatile guy to keep in our organization.

I'm glad we re-upped him, I'd like to see what he can do when healthy.

Say what you will, he's definitely an improvement over Randy Jones.

You have me there. I cannot refute that in any way.
There is still hope though; Jones is UFA and for the right price could be the team's other big splash in the FA pool.

He played a few games for the jets before he got injured, seemed to do ok but he did make a few mistakes.
Then he got injured and stayed with the jets for months and months. As soon as he healed up they sent him to the caps. His first game back he gets injured again. That finished his season.

A Winnipegger and veteran AHL-NHL tweener D (can also play forward apparently) who had a really unfortunate year in terms of injuries. Came back in time for the IceCaps' play-off runs and from the games I watched (almost all of them) was IMO the farm team's best player not named Pasquale.
I don't know that he'll crack the NHL roster full-time, but he would be a reliable call-up if needed.

Good guy, I've met him and his wife a few times. I'm sure his wife is happy to have him play here or on the farm.
