my thoughts on the day so far

-don't like asham but at 1mill, ill take that over 2.5 for prust as much as i like prust

-sather needs to front load the hell out of both suter/parise, we have enough room for both, if the cap hit is only 7ish, why not throw as much signing bonuses and front load in it, rangers have no problem spending the cash, as long as the cap hit does not go to high

we get these guys it solves any problems we once have, on top of this we trade duby and can even add another player or two like doan/jagr

Either that or save the cap space for Crosby and nab him when he becomes a free agent?
I love it when off-seasons are graded at 3:45PM on July 1st. None of the significant pieces have fallen yet, we have no idea what the plan is right now.

I'm a little sad too; I enjoyed watching him play and respected his willingness to stick up for teammates.

Overall, I'm happy for him, though; can't blame him for wanting to make some money on what is probably his only shot at a decently big contract. I think it's safe to say that every single person on this board would do exactly what Prust did (i.e. go for the biggest contract) if they were in his position.

Prust played his ass off, put his body on the line night after night, and I don't see why anyone should begrudge him taking the chance to cash in. That said, I'm glad the Rangers didn't pay $2.5 M per for him.

I agree we did get two or three degrees uglier with that signing.

Good, hopefully Parise goes out west and Suter saddles the Flyers. #caphell

Saddles? I don't care if his hit is 13 million, I want no part of that team with Ryan Suter

Canes can push as hard as they want, Detroit is on his list but Howson would be dumb o move him to a division rival.

Canes aren't on his list, and Detroit is in the same division.. tons of options.

so many teams have tried for nash, and only one team has stayed in it the whole time, nyr...dont know why howson just gives in, this situation alone, no matter how it ends should make owners fire him

Either of them for that matter.

People can say what they want about cap and contract but Parise and Suter are both very good hockey players and any team will gain a lot by signing either of them.

And I do not want Pitts and Philly gaining anything.

I'm led to believe its Howson doing the budging based purely on Portzlines interview earlier today.

I still really hope someone else gets Nash.

I'm telling you we'd be much better off with Ryan. Younger, cheaper, and is a good fit on this team.

I get the sense that Carolina is trying to invigorate its fanbase by being "involved" in every big name.

Agreed.

Not mention 4 years is a good amount for a guy with his style of play.
