Solid signing, but come on Suter is still out there.

I would have been fine with this move if we did not re-sign Shane O'Brien.

Johnson
Hejda
O'Byrne
Zanon
Wilson
O'Brien
Hunwick

Say hello to the 2012-2013 Colorado Avalanche defense.

It's not official until the Avs announce it on twitter.

Not a bad signing but nothing to get really excited about either. Just another 5th-6th defenseman. He can actually play though and is a lot better than Carkner.

Don't like this signing. He adds absolutely nothing new to the team, he can't move the puck, he can't doesn't even add the "able to beat the crap out of anyone" element that Carkner did. Our defense is pretty terrible.

EJ - Number 2/3
Hejda - Number 4
Zanon - Number 4/5
ROB - Number 5
Wilson - Number 5/6
SOB - Number 5/6
Hunwick - Number 6/7

So there is depth but absolute lack of talent past EJ. I want to go cry somewhere.

Seems like the avs have a lot of dmen signed and no room for the young guys unless 2 or more injuries hit the dmen corps. I wish they would go for quality over quantity. I don't see Zanon as a guy that is much better or even a little better than what the avs already had.

Still absolutely no real minute-eater guy on the left side. Guess they are just going to hope someone can play with EJ, which is stupid.

According to TSN, Suter has an offer on the table for 13 years and over $100M from someone. You really expect the Avs to give that kind of contract out? I'll be shocked if EJ, McGinn, or ROR get more than 3-4 years max.

The D is now set, and it's not really any better than last year.

Just a warm body till the kids are ready to come up (Siemens). He's Solid enough and a decent price I guess. We should focus on a winger being the big signing.

Say hello to the 2012-2013 Colorado Avalanche defense.
So they go from almost signing 6'4" 237 lb mean nasty, willing to scrap anyone Matt Carkner, to an average sized 5'11" 201 lb Zanon who isn't very physical at all. Zanon had 18 PIMS in 56 games last year. Carkner put up 136 PIMS in 50 games a couple seasons ago.

What are the Avs going for here? Anyone they can find that can't score? I feel a Bouwmeester trade for Wilson and Sgarbossa coming on.

If Avs are signing players for the sake of signing players or reaching the cap floor, they might as well just resign their own players to massive contracts and get it over with.

I just don't see how Zanon is gonna help the team. Wasting time here with this pick ups

Same defense as last year, just the smaller Zanon in for Quincey.

Our offense will continue to struggle, absolutely no outlet potential except for EJ, and Wilson/SOB if they are given a boatload of time.

Zanon would be a pretty good signing if only he wasn't exactly what the Avs DON'T have a need for right now.
