We should split signings into two threads.

One to talk about the cap hit, the other to talk about the hockey player.

That's something we should never talk about or care about. None of our business, anyway.

It matters, it always does, just not as much as people think.

Might as well not have one at $70+ million.

Habs needed to "grit it up" having to play against Boston and Philly. The East has always been a little rougher to play against over the West. Bergevin is addressing some serious issues the Habs had. Nice to see some positive changes to this team...

The offseason has just begun. Do you think Prust would have been available tomorrow? You normally start 12 forwards.

Being originally from South-West(Sud-Ouest) Montreal like Bergevin. I grew tired of Boston pushing us around, glad Marc see's the same!!!

Geezaz guys. We got one of the best 3rd liners in the game at a cap hit of $2.5m. Huge need addressed! He'll make everyone on our team braver and will make opponents less brave plus he can play the game. It's money well spent.

Prust was making that money somewhere, I have no doubt teams were going hard for him.

I'm just very concerned based on Therrien's previous comments that the management's philosophy that hard work and toughness is all you need.

You can look at it many ways,Let's try it this way.
Leafs paid Armstrong 3 million.

Habs got PRUST AND ARMSTRONG for 3.5 million

Seems pretty smart shopping to me .

Habs carried Blunden and Darche for what 1.5 million?

Prust and Armstrong are well worth 2 million more , no questions asked.

Prust is an absolute warrior. An incredible person and locker room guy. He plays with incredible heart an will do anything asked of him.

Take care of him Habs fans, he's a good one.

Wow!! I can't believe we actually got Prust! His name was coming up time and time again as someone we should target, so it's awesome our dreams are actually coming true.

Considering what Gaustad signed for, Prust came in at a decent price. Maybe a little high, and probably one year too much on the term, but like I said previously, it's very hard to sign anyone in free agency for under 4 years.

Don't understand why people are *****ing about these signings. They're smart moves that add much needed grit and "truculence" to a team that was pushed around by every team they played last year and with low cap hits to boot!

No we didn't land any big names but with all the talent coming up the pipeline these guys are short term fixes till our prospects are ready to break into the NHL. I'm just happy we didn't even make an offer to Parenteau now that is overpayment for marginal talent. We have a very shrewd GM guys.
