Still. They've got in the AHL to see how it goes, so hopefully then institute it before the 13-14 season.

Decent 3rd line LW option. Think this could mean a Cullen trade honestly.

Had the same thought. Minnesota needs more depth, especially as last year showed, but if there are pieces that can be used to gain assets, Clutterbuck is probably up there. Especially with the two signings today.

No...I think you misunderstood...the very next season they instituted a penalty that made that play illegal. That has been in place since then already. You are confusing the hybrid icing rule being experimented with, which I think is unneeded.

That would make me very happy. I'm tired of Cullen, and I really want to see someone more consistent in that 2C spot.

Well a lot of us think otherwise.

The Hybrid icing rule is the perfect solution. It keeps the race for the puck in play, all it does is eliminate the need for players to put themselves in akward situations trying to touch the puck.

Injuries are very rare even before the penalty was instituted...I'm happy with the way it is. That's all I'm saying, no need to debate the issue since none of us are likely to change opinion...back on topic.

Anyone get the sense that Phillips could be the prospect getting traded in this instance?

He's pretty far down on the list at this point, so why not.

Chuck Kobasew was decent. Eric Nystrom was decent. Darrol Powe's decent. Matt Cullen's decent. Brad Staubitz and Nick Johnson, well they were a little underwhelming, and Cam Barker was flat-out worthless. Mike Lundin who? Its getting hard to believe in the evaluation level of our staff. This Mitchell contract seems to be in-line with the norm.

If he can play LW, which I don't know if he has before. It certainly would be his off-wing, and it's rare for a checker to play there.

If he can't, he's the 4th-line RW if CC is still here.

Mitchell pencilled in as third-line RW; Konopka fourth-line C; Guys can slot up

Isn't that Clutterbuck's position? Hmmm...

Whats your point? None of those, minus the barker trade, were meant to bring in game changers. They were meant to bring in someone decent for depth and stability purposes.

Most likely the Wild's offseason doesn't end with free agency, regardless if we sign parise and/or suter. If we don't sign them, this brings in some more decent players to fill in the bottom lines and give us the depth to make a trade without opening a hole somewhere else (im talking clutterbuck here).

If we do sign suter and/or parise its possible that we still make a trade. This team wants to make the playoffs more than anything in the entire world. Maybe we package scandella + clutter + a 1st/phillips to upgrade our D even further...

point is that decent signings like this give the wild options, and lots of them.

Yes, but Clutter has played LW before. But it's worth noting.

Sharks fan here. Glad to see Mitchell and Seto back together (watch out girls and nightlife of Twin Cities). 9 times out of 10, Torrey "Stonehands" Mitchell (as we've affectionately named him) will screw up a scoring
chance, but that 10th time will be a highlight real goal.

Going to miss him in Teal, but understand why he needed to go.

Best of luck Torrey!

Clutter can play both wings so he'll likely be the LW on that line. Agree though, I'd rather Clutter play RW.

But either way it leaves one of Cullen or Clutterbuck out. If Clutter is on the left Cullen is odd man out and if they keep Cullen, Clutter is either on the 4th line or gone.

Only if we sign more players. We have 13 NHL forwards and either Veilleux or Kassian will be a scratch. Cullen is in the top 6 unless we sign someone to take his spot.

I guess I was counting too many forwards, but I would hope Cullen wouldn't be in our top 6 again this year. Just the definition of streaky. I like him in a third line role where he doens't have to pressure himself so much to score.

steph is two way though--right? he'll probably start in houston and Konopka and Kass will share time.

I don't think so. Konopka is a center.

Highly doubtful. We'll go with:

Clutter-Brodziak-Mitchell
Powe-Konopka-Kassian/Veilleux

This looks more like a move to help boost Setoguchi. Him and Mitchell are the best of friends.
