it doesn't really matter where Latendresse lands at the price he was signed for. Even in the bottom 3, it is still a deal. I would say that Silfv will compete for top 6 minutes, maybe even top 3 Dblad. So I wouldn't put all your eggs in the basket just yet.

I understand that. But what is Mac doing to do if Latendresse shows up to camp at 240??

If a guy has been in the league for 5+ years and hasnt taken fitness seriously its hard to assume he will do it on his own. If he fears for his NHL future(which he should) then he will get in shape and be solid.

Well I don't agree with that, I think that Greening is every bit as good as Latendresse & while Ladentresse may be slightly better offensively I would argue that Greening is much better defensively, not to mention much faster. Latendresse may have a better shot but overall I think Greening is the better two way hockey player. I also think that the 1st line LW job is Silfverberg's job to lose who IMO is a better goal scorer & better defensively than Latendresse.

Greening had 37 pts in his first full yr in the NHL, I expect him to be a lot better next season. Latendresse best season was 40 pts for Minny & Montreal. Latendresse will have to stay healthy all yr, I like his size & wanted to draft him but his health & compete level concerns me. However, if Foligno is traded then I could see Latendresse playing on that 2nd line.

I other words he needs to get in better shape, so that he isn't so injury prone?

Pretty much agree with this.

I am thinking this signing might just be the sign Foligno is on his way shortly.

Low risk; high potential reward. This is good. Gives me the feeling that Murray/MacLean have decided Silfverberg, Stone, Zibanejad will really have to push at the highest level to make the team or they spend AHL time for a year.

Maybe I just have less faith in Greening. He cooled off after xmas last season and I just don't expect him to repeat last year.

Not at all, sports hernias are quite common, a torn labral is a cartilage injury, has nothing to do with physical conditioning. It was more likely cause by a fall or heavy check.

Silfverberg will be a Senator in October, the only question is which line.

You guys are gonna love Lats. Big power forward who likes to use his body and is always creating offense when he's on the ice. I'm really pissed that our GM didn't qualify him in the first place. Don't let other Wild fans catch me saying this, but I think Lats is capable of 30 goals if he can stay healthy, especially if Spezza is centering him. He's got good hands, a decent shot with a solid bachhander, and a great attitude. Teammates are going to love him and so are the fans. I wish him luck with you guys, I'm really gonna miss him.

For those saying he's overweight, he's not. He came into camp last off-season in shape and really motivated. The concussion was not related to his past weight problems and was just an unfortunate injury.

Has he healed from the concussion already? Will he be ready for training camp? We as Ottawa fans know how important it is to be healthy by training camp (i.e. Carkner, Kuba)

So yeah, does Latenderesse play on our 1st line with Spezza or 2nd line with Turris?

If Lats can stay healthy, sky's the limit for him. Was starting to look real good offensively before his recent string of injuries.

Is he of any value at all if he's not in the top six, though? Wouldn't it be like having another Butler if he's on the fourth line?

That's what I liked about Foligno, you could plug him in down there and it made the line much better.
