His agent said before that he wanted to come back.

Thanks for everything Poni.

I think he was one of the most practical trades Lou has made since the lockout.

Doesn't everyone and their agent say that?

1.8 for 1 playoff goal? He'd make almost as much as the entire 4th line...

I appreciate what he did but c'mon!

Should have re-signed him, at that price. Hell, I would have nearly doubled it for what he brings. I thought he was going to be hitting 3 mil on the open market, honestly.

Guess it just means we're really focused on Brodeur and Parise.

If I'm not mistaken he was involved in the Game 7 OT goal vs Florida, Game 6 OT goal vs NYR, and the OT goal vs Philly. He was HUGE when he needed to be. He was on the ice for 2 series clinching goals.

Not a huge loss by any means, I hope him the best.

wow pretty much nailed that one saying I would pay him 1.5 to 1.8 at most to come back.

Adios - maybe our trails will cross again someday.

I liked Poni more for other things he brought than goal scoring. Only reason I gave him a hard time for the scoring ever was when he missed on an open net, and pretty much put it in Clemmensen's glove in the 3rd period of game 6 vs Florida. That and a similar situation against Bryz in OT in game 1 of the Flyers series.

Ponikarovsky led the Devils in CORSI stats, IIRC.

real good friends with nik antropov, so not too surprising to see him go to winnipeg. he was a solid third liner. real good defensively and decent enough offensively. guess lou has other plans.

Best luck to Poni, even though it was short I'll always have fond memories of him.

Especially at the price we paid for him. A fourth and Joe Sova.

honestly if jets are out and devs are in at trade deadline - would not be surprised to see Lou bring him back

I liked Poni so this kinda sucks. I'd think that Antropov played a part in his decision, they've been tight since TO.

Would be pretty funny if we kept renting him.

I don't think the Devils had any legitimate interest in bringing him back and I don't see him ever wearing a Devils uni again. He was a quick fix/rental type for this season.

It would have been nice to have seen him back but if didn't come to the Devils he probably would only have contract offers in the KHL. Good for him, maybe we'll bring him back at the deadline.

Also, for what he brings maybe we can find somebody cheaper.

Am I the only one that thinks it's strange that we're discussing bringing back a previous rental at the deadline immediately after letting him walk?

Why wouldn't we just keep him altogether?
