JVR was concussed leading up to the deadline, Read is a rookie with a less than stellar post season ... and opening up a hole on the back end during a stretch run isn't usually the best tactic.

It is just always going to be the wrong decision. If we'd dealt him for that package, we'd be hearing that Poile hamstrung one of our best potential playoff runs, showed Weber we weren't committed to keeping our players and gotten an injured bust in return.
A) we wouldn't have been worse, maybe a little weaker defensively but we would have been better offensively not only last year but for the future. I'd rather have had that than a second round flame out and the very real possibility that Suter walks for nothing.
B) apparently you didn't watch Philly in the playoffs because they would definitely traded some of their offensive depth for a #1 defenseman. Plus had exclusive negotiating rights to extend him.
Well I respect you opinion, but I'd say about 99% of people disagree with you. Trading away your 2nd best player just before a playoff run is unheard of and borderline insanity.
Less than stellar is a good description for Suters play on the back end ever since the all star break when he said he wouldn't sign before the deadline thus eliminating the distraction.

Insanity is doing the same thing for 12 years (Poile and Trotz) and expecting a different result.

The team hasn't done the same thing for 12 years ... or the other two years they've existed.
The only same thing I see is the complaining no matter what the team does. If they make moves, complaints. If they don't make moves, complaints. If they sign a FA, complaints. If they don't, complaints. Keep the same lines or juggle players, complaints. Keep the vets or go with younger players, complaints.
Notice the word choice .. complaining and complaints rather than criticism. One has a constructive connotation that the other lacks.
we should have complaints. we face problems other franchises don't.. we are low on cash and will constantly lose guys like suter, weber. get use to it.

I think the ability of the team to get into the playoffs for several years with teams that really had no business getting there has skewed expectations a bit. It also easily gives the appearance that the team has basically been stagnant during this whole stretch, which I don't really agree with, but I can see the perspective.

Complaints are easy. They require no thought. Criticism, especially when done constructively, requires thought and analysis of what other viable options exist.
kind of gave a **** or get off the pot statement regarding suter and weber. said we made an offer on parise but have not been told we were out yet. talked gaustad and maon. nothing significant other than he was tired of waiting on suter
going to make firm offers to suter and weber. need to speed up suter situation.. so we can possibly go other routes. parise camp hasnt told us we are out of the running. mason is a great pick up for the preds.
Garrison to Vancouver. The longer Suter drags this out, the more potential replacements will be gone
I wouldn't really consider Allen or Garrison as Suter replacements. Bouwmeester is probably the closest thing available this season, if he signs elsewhere then maybe it's time to panic.
Good on Poile for coming out and saying Suter and Weber need to **** or get off the pot.
I'd love to have them both and Parise, but if Suter dicks around for more than another 24 hrs then Poile needs to find a replacement, and if Weber won't commit after getting a monster deal, then call Holmgren and see if Couturier and one of Mezaros or Coburn can be had for Weber...
