Worth 2.5mil a season? Never.

If you're so blind that you can't see past the worth fo a 4th line player than you are completely in the dark. There is a TON of Brandon Prust's out there and none of them are worth more than 1.5 mil TOPS.

Get a clue.
Read before you post, I've said three times already that I would not have signed Prust at 2.5, I have a problem with cheaping out on a toolbag like Asham. I also have an issue with all the armchair brain-dead GM's on the board that think they write the checks, and are blind to the fact the Rangers (thus far) are a weaker team by losing Prust and replacing him with Asham, REGARDLESS of what the respective players are making..

Cheaping out? How much effing more should we have paid for a 4th liner?

Tootoo gets 1.9 per. Makes this signing look good, again.

Yeah I just don't like Asham. I like the signing. I think he'll help. But I don't expect to "warm up to him" I sure didn't to Avery or to Brashear.

The more I think about it, the more I like this signing. 4th liner who will stand up to anyone and have his teammates backs. Would've been interesting to see what he would've done after Carkner assaulted Boyle.

Hagelin-Richards-Gaborik
Semin-Stepan-Callahan
Dubinsky-Anisimov-Kreider
Rupp-Boyle-Asham

I had a feeling the Rangers would sign Asham once I heard what Prust's contract demands were. I always hated Asham because he was a pain in the ass to play against so I hope our divisional rivals feel the same way about him.

Compared to some of the other contracts that were handed out to 4th liners today, I think we got decent value for Asham. He can agitate and score the odd goal here and there, and he's played with Rupp before. Not a bad signing by any means.

Asham is no nonsense though. I liked Avery quite a lot--but there was a lot of nonsense with him. Asham won't back up. Sometimes maybe it's stupidity but he doesn't. He's a guy who has always hung in there. Not a great talent but he has his moments. He finds ways to contribute. He doesn't quite replace Prust. Prust was very good defensively and on the penalty kill.

Not really a fan of Asham, but the deal makes sense and it came at a great price. Welcome aboard.

As a pure fighter I think Asham is pretty equal to Prust. He is very good at the trade but Asham also has power too. He can hurt if he lands. Prust didn't have power, but he was very technically sound and had great stamina.

As a skater you have to give the advantage to Prust. not that Prust was a great skater, but he was always buzzing around. I don't know if the same can be said for Asham.

As a pure hitter, Asham is definitely better. Prust throws the body often, but he never really crushes anyone with a hit. Asham can hit.

Asham can also shoot the puck. Not that he is a goal scorer by Amy means but he can let it go when he has the chance.

Prust IMO has move value for sure, plus he was certainly part of the core. For the discount I'm ok with this one, but he wouldn't have been my first choice.

Asham's fights are usually good because he's willing to trade--even against the heavy's. He fights with bad intention. That's what Haley does as well.

I'm okay with this. Good replacement for Prust fight-wise.

Getting Asham, Haley and resigning Bickel seems to be part of some sort of plan to keep as much cap flexibility as possible while getting toughness that can play minutes for a Torts style team. It seemed to be Sather's plan to handle this as cheaply as possible so that he had plenty of space to add a more expensive piece. and keep more room for deals at the deadline and next season when we've got 2 or 3 big RFA's to re-sign. Still wouldn't mind to see Feds back.

Not me.

I hope Asham puts Prust to sleep and does the good night hand gesture.

Prust is no longer a Ranger by his own doing.

I don't blame him one iota, but the fact is he is NO LONGER A NYR player and therefore, he is road kill.

I like this deal over the Prust deal. I love Prust but not at 2.5. Asham can fight with the best of them, brings an intimidation factor with him, and he scores timely goals. Saavy move by Sather to get a veteran team first guy with a penchant for being a big factor in big games.

I hope he does, too.

I hope he beats the **** out of Prust.

But I don't want him crosschecking him in the teeth and then punching him in the back of the head.
