While salaries are out of control in the NBA, general managers still possess the ability to make trades and in a lot of cases, multi-team trades. NHL general managers aren't creative enough or gutsy enough.

Nah, NHL GM's are still relatively new at this cap business. NBA GM's have had lots of time to adapt and they still make the craziest decisions and contract offers known to man. How many bench players in the NBA make 10M or more per year? It's ridiculous.

A one-dimensional PP defenceman who scored something like 2 goals after February is fielding offers for 6.5 a season.

i don't understand the hype about Harti as first line LW or even 2nd line. He create space for small fwds like JFJ did. He didn't really dominate here in OKC.

Like I said, NBA GMs have had lots of time to learn from their mistakes and they seemingly either don't care to learn or can't learn.

At least Tallon learned from his Campbell mistake so he won't make the same mistake twice with Garrison.

Plus just about every trade or trade proposal involves bad contracts or expiring contracts.

Does the Rome signing open the door to a Fistric trade?

Hemsky for Ott and Fistric....would anyone here do that?

I'd rather have Paajarvi fill that spot than Harti.

P.S. Is the TSN show online?

as per twitter
Dislike. We need another defenseman and we need to get rid of Peckham and Potter.

Hemsky - RNH - Eberle
Hall - Gagner - Yakupov
Smyth - Horcoff - Hartikainen
Eager - Belanger - Jones
Petrell, Hordichuk

Smid - Petry
Whitney - J. Schultz
FA/TRADE - N. Schultz

Dubnyk
Khabi

Potter is waived. Peckham traded in a minor deal.

Go after Carle or Garrison (if the price isn't as crazy as reported). If that doesn't work out go after Salvador. A strong shutdown guy who had a great playoffs. If THAT doesn't work out then trade for Hjalmarsson.

Would Chicago take something like Omark and 2nd?

Tambo needs to add 1 more defenseman to the group if we want to compete for the playoffs. We cannot settle for Sutton, Potter or Peckham in our top 6 D. Just my opinion.

**** I missed it, Bryan Allen got 3.5M/yr for 3 years? That's a pretty good deal for the Ducks.

For a guy who played tough minutes for Canes, nice term and value.

Makes us even for Schultz right?

I'd rather a guy like him than 4M+ on a guy like Allen.

We need the Suter and Parise domino to fall soon, as I think we will see a flurry of activity after.
Exactly.

I'm not sure why people would be alright with signing a Carle or a Garrison for their insane market value - with term - when other, arguably better options are potentially available via the trade route.

Andrej Meszaros, Age 26, $4M for 2 years
Jay Bouwmeester, Age 28, $6.68M for 2 years
Keith Yandle, Age 25, $5.25M for 4 years
Nik Hjalmarsson, Age 25, $3.25M for 2 years
Paul Martin, Age 31, $5M for 3 years

Getting Yandle is a fantasy, but it just goes to show the options that are available as opposed to offering lesser players the current market value for their contracts.
