I know we don't have room for him, but I'd love to get Sal back in the fold just because he's pure awesomeness and well respected in the locker room, no question.

Let`s say we offered (as it`s been rumoured) something between 6.8-7.5per (annual cap hit), do you think we would match if DET or PIT offered 1m more?

I tend to believe the only financial issue is the signing bonus / lockout protection. Ultimately the structuring of the contract, not the term / total.

I don't like hearing that we're only "one of his top teams". We should be the only one, damn it!

It's really not that difficult to replace him. Just find another reclamation project winger for the third line. By no means is he a core piece, and I'm ok with letting him walk because Lou's attention was on Parise, where it should be.

True. And Parise is no quitter. We'll see.

I don't. Our defense is significantly deeper than Pittsburgh. Martin and Orpik are keys to that defense. If they suck, that defense is trash.

Hearing Parise & Suter will pick a team based on which GM has waited beside his office phone for the longest stretch of time.

Good news for us. Can't picture Lou owning a cell phone.

That's nice to read...

I'm with you. He has put in 7 years with the Devils and earned the right to test the market. He's not gone yet and him and lou continue to chat contract. I'm optimistic right now. While we may not be as high as the Wild or Pitt, he's the captain of the team, has a great room to come back to and loves the area.

Kings shifting focus away from Parise, earlier than in past when trying to land top free agent. "Learn from mistakes," said one LA source.

Seriously! You guys are driving yourself crazy over a single word! We should all be taking solace in the fact that, despite the ownership and financial issues, Parise is having a difficult time choosing to leave this team. Leaving the Devils isn't as big a slap in the face as some will say.

I'm still gonna boo the **** out of him if he's a Penguin, though.

To be honest, i think anything above 7.5 (really above 8) becomes a financial decision and we wouldnt match.

I think you're probably right. The $100 M offers that were cited almost certainly came from non-contending teams.

I don't quite understand why he's still doing that (because stringing us along now only to leave anyway would just piss us off more), but I do take encouragement from the fact that he still keeps mentioning the Devils on July 1. Richards didn't do that, and most guys who are 100% gone don't do that either.

You have to be crazy if you don't think Pitt on paper has the better core/team for the next 5 years.

Their defense was top 4 in the East last season. They gave up like 10 more goals then us last season.
They already lost Mihalek who was probably one of the best defensive defenseman on that team. Making a point of the defense being top 4 a couple of years ago has little to no importance right now.

Handle us with ease - from Jan 10 when Lemaire came back the Devs and Pens have gone .500 against each other over 10 games.

Good point, but from what we heard, it seems like we can`t give him 24m over one summer and neither can Pittsburgh.
