Half a season of bourque gave us this

GP G A PTS
38 5 3 8

and the 2nd worst +/- with -16

Anyone still wanting Bourque plays too much NHL 2012

Mckenzie says he is hearing Garrison to Canucks, but not confirmed yet.

Dreger on Twitter says 6 years, $4.6m/year. Dollars very good, term a bit much but I guess you have to give something.

We have too much top 9 and too much bottom 9 to sign someone else. Unless we upgrade on someone.

So we would need to either trade bourque or Gionta because I keep Cole N patches 1200 times out of 10

Bourque isn't a top-6 forward at this point in his career. He dropped off in Calgary and early signs in Montreal on Plekanec wing are bad.

We still have a lot of $ before reaching the cap, I would get rid of both Gionta and obviously Bourque if we had the chance, I love our C but we need to have one that can play a full season and playoffs staying healthy.

Too much top 9? We sure have a lot of 3rd liners but we have three top 6 wingers, two of who are on the wrong side of 30.

Last year we started with Cammalleri and Andrei Kostitsyn and we hardly known as an offensive force. They've been replaced by Bourque (basically a worse version of AK) and a bunch of grinders who score 10 goals in good seasons.

Until last year Gionta was our only winger who played on a 30 goal pace. I'm a bit concerned about his future and all options should be looked at, but who is supposed to play on our second line, Armstrong?

Anyone who thinks Armstrong was signed to be on the 2nd line, or that Eller will be on one of the top two lines is crazy. If the team broke camp today you'd probably see this:

Plekanec w/Gionta and Bourque
Desharnais w/Pacioretty and Cole
Eller w/ Leblanc and Moen
White w/Armstrong and Prust
Nokelainen

Gorges, Subban, Markov, Kaberle, Emelin, Bouillon, Diaz or Weber

I still think they are in the mix for a UFA top 6 forward, and that there are trades to be made to clear out the glut of similar players (ex Diaz and Weber). Leblanc can, and perhaps should, spend half a season in Hamilton, and Bourque is not worthy of the 1st line. Again, the work is not done. Also, this is a team made to improve over last year, make the playoffs, but not win the cup. Three years from now, the team with some of the above leading the way, and Tinordi, Beaulieu, Galchenyuk, Collberg, Gallagher, Kristo, et al on the team -probably with Sylvain Lefebvre behind the bench - THAT will be a contending team.

Also, without a doubt, unless he looked like the second coming of Gretzky, Gomez will not break camp with this team.

Nice to have Cedrick Desjardins back in the Habs fold! I think that he could be the Habs future backup!

2nd line void should be filled with semin, mueller, jagr, doan (no chance), parise (no chance)...that's it that's all.

Last season Eller played the 2nd-most difficult minutes of the Habs' centres. I expect him to play the 2nd-most difficult minutes again next year so Desharnais can play sheltered offensive minutes again. When I listed those lines I listed them in order of defensive responsibility, which I mentioned. I'm not going by the traditional top-6 score, bottom-6 grind mentality.

Armstrong is definitely debatable, but he's played top-6 opposition before and put up decent offensive numbers doing it (in Atlanta). If he falters the Habs have to resort to Moen playing 2nd-tough opposition or calling up Leblanc.

Bourque is a sack of **** and he won't get better. He's absolutely useless and it's a shame his salary is too high, otherwise we could've used his fat body as a 4th line cannonball skating on everyone. Nobody wants him, unless Habs offer a another lose-some-more deal like they did with Kaberle. How about Bourque for Redden, because that's what it takes to move him.

Cut Bourque some slack. I hated his play but still its only 1 season and also he still scored 18 goals.

Im all for an upgrade over Bourque but who do we get ? Ryan ? Nash ? We try and sign Parise and then trade Bourque for a 2nd pick ? I wish ...
Who's really a upgrade over Bourk ? Jagr? Ya ... I prefer Bourque on a two-way line.. AK ? I don't mind it... But its not much of an upgrade...
Parise sure bring him ...

Market was set real early for Parise/Suter 12-13 year deals offered at 90M plus. Incredible to hear #NHL teams willing to go there.

After one day of FA signings:

It looks like Galchenyuk and Collberg won't even need to compete for their position at camp. It's their's already.

Where do you get this garbage?

Bourque was better than this his whole career. You make it sound like we need a miracle for him to be a productive NHL player. Even the first half in Calgary he had 13 goals in 38 games(28 goal pace). Best thing we can do with him is keep him.
