Actually, you can. It's just difficult to do. They also move the puck fine with Del Zotto, McDonagh, and Staal. You may not call the latter two PMD, but they move it better than, say, Sbisa and you'd call him one.
Ya its called having Pronger-Neids
I think Sbisa is better then Staal as a PMD. I'm not even dreaming of saying the defense is a top 5 in the NHL like the Rangers but people are acting like it is as bad as it was a few years ago.
I vote for cap hit = actual salary paid every year. The cap hit can go up and down based on the actual dollars the team is spending. This AAV thing is weak and I am not sure why it is that way.
As for the signings, if we include Souray, there is no way Ryan is traded for a Dman now......I hope BM is not preparing us for the Ryan for Voracek and Read type of trade.
I think it was done to prevent bigger market teams from getting creative, as ironic as that is. Mainly so they didn't have the annual salaries bouncing all over the place so it appeared to give them more space than they actually had in certain years. This way, they figured that didn't matter, and everyone had a fair shot. Of course, they didn't envision the dearth of 10+ year contracts with heavily front loaded deals and bogus years at the end. Those definitely have to stop next CBA.
Same thing I was thinking. Money doesn't bother me a ton, it's a little steep but not a whole lot, $3 mil for him probably would've been fair. But three years? That's certainly interesting, to say the least.
