Also, this should hopefully help set Carle's price at right about 5M...

Not too bad. Suspect a hometown discount since there were rumblings a month ago that he wanted to play there.
Agreed.

Decent price to solidify their top-4. They just upgraded their D for sure.

Edler, Hamhuis, Bieksa and Garrison.

Pretty bad. All he's got is a shot and he scored 2 goals after February last year.

Oh well. The Canucks replaced Salo.

Souray got a big pile of cash, too. 3 years 11 million? wow.
he's going to be useless at the end of that deal, if he's not useless at the beginning of it.
he had what about 20 points last year with most of them in the first 20 games?

someone on the Ducks board just posted the "Will we file tampering charges against Edmontno"--My response was how do you know Edmonton did it? We know two players, one from the Leaf and one from the Rangers did talk to him "but not about joining their team"--I have seen no evidence that anyone from the oilers talked to him before they were allowed to

Apparently we're in pn Jagr. Between us & Montreal according to RDS.

Jagr and Carle would be so awesome.

Canucks are stuck with him for 6 years if he doesn't pan out. I don't like it for them personally.

Weren't we happy about Horcoff's deal when it happened? 5.5 was very much comparable to Garrison's new deal based on how they played the previous years.

Not too bad still equals bad

But with some of the rumors of 6.5 million, was expecting much much worse than 4.6. It's not albatross level(5 mill plus), but still pretty high for a potential one year wonder.

There's no reason for Jagr to sign here now that Renney's gone. I mean, he MIGHT want to play with Hemsky but all reports suggest that the Oilers are shopping him.

If Tambo's after Jagr I'm thinking he's been dipping into the moonshine today.

difference is 6 years from now, the Canucks will be rebuilding and his deal won't really matter

If we were talking to him from the outset and had the inside track, why did we do this whole dog and pony show and get Gretzky and Coffee to call him? All our actions lead me to belief we weren't sure where he was signing and that we wanted to sign him very badly, pulling out every stop along the way to do so.

We aren't making the playoffs.

Based on Tambo's comments, we are definitely waiting for Paul Martin if Pens sign Parise and/or Suter

Yes! It did wonders for our young guys in the faceoff circle.

I'm not going to read the Nucks thread on Garrison but my guess is it goes less than 1 page before someone contrasts him with "that traitor" Justin Schultz.

My bet is that he is using us as leverage... If this is true

I remember how he did absolute wonders with Stoll and Horcoff in the face off circle. Jagr would be a great teacher for our young PwF prospects in yak hall and PRV.

It's definitely leverage. I'm reading that the Habs have upped their offer to 2 years.

Buts that was it.....and Jagr is not a center.....he will be taking away ice time from the big four...not needed at this time

it's a good move imo. If they get one of them, they'll need to move Martin and something like Omark and a late pick would likely get it done

Souray's deal astounds me. Every team in the league could have had him for 1/2 of his 5.4 million, for either 1 and a half or 1 year. 3 years at more just seems nuts.
