Oh No Gillis isn't do anything! He's on the shortbus again! He's not going to do anything on July 1! Fail!

Then bam low and behold a competent GM is actually doing his job.

Good signing. About the price I expected. Canucks have a nice top 4. Need some steady veteran presence as 6/7 now. Or AV to use Ballard.

Still should leave room for Weber next year, too if we dump Ballard.

Real solid signing.
I thought Garrison played the left side? Can he play both for sure?

Outside of last year is he really that good? Little risky if he can't reproduce his play from last year.

True hometown discount.
I believe he can get more elsewhere.
Probably not 6.5, as that number have been thrown around, but probably north of 5.

Regardless, with this kind of dough, now he can build a huge ass castle in White Rock.

I think there is little bust potential with Garrison. He probably won't hit 16 goals again but the guy is a rock defensively and can play both the left and right side effectively. Fits in nicely with Hamhuis, Bieksa and Weber going forward. Yes I said Weber.
I had him at these numbers as well. Good signing at $4.6mil IMO and an absolute must if we wanted to improve the backend.

Watched a ton of Garrison over the 2nd half of this season and am fully confident he'll be a good player for us. He's the perfect replacement for Salo longterm. Replaces Sami's steady, reliable play and his slapshot as well.

Now get Doan!

I believe he plays both sides and spent most of the last year on the right.

Canucks land Garrison. Top 6: Hamhuis, Bieksa, Garrison, Edler, Tanev, Ballard.
It certainly looks appealing.

Don't underestimate Zanon...would love him as a Canuck, guy's a gamer.

I'm gonna continue tooting my own horn, here. I'm so rarely right, I'd just like to revel in it for a moment.

...wow, that was brief.

Probably a smart move today. Got someone who WANTS to play here, dreamed of it actually. A young guy heading into his prime, big body who can play tough defensive minutes and move the puck at the same time, can step into our PP and help it immediately. Our only D man who can play both sides, already so versatile. I didn't think he'd actually come home, there's no doubt better offers out there. He took a discount. I am happy.

We just gave him a lot of money for a lot of years.
The thing is, a couple years ago he was just cracking into the NHL. I really think the bust potential on him is minimal and he still has room to grow overall. I don't think he'll score 16 goals again, but the guy has been a rock defensively the past two years(with Weaver and Brian Campbell) and he's quite versatile. If he can log 22+ min/game and score 8-10 goals and 25-30 points this will be a solid signing.

Garrison could give Schultz lessons on how to be a life long Canuck fan.

6 years is understandable, since he's only 27.

Keeps the cap hit lower.

I'm sure he had been offered $5+ for shorter term.

If we can make a play for Weber next year, and jettison Ballard, we're in awesome shape for the next 4-5 years.
