We know two players, one from the Leaf and one from the Rangers did talk to him "but not about joining their team"--I have seen no evidence that anyone from the oilers talked to him before they were allowed to

Weren't we happy about Horcoff's deal when it happened? 5.5 was very much comparable to Garrison's new deal based on how they played the previous years.

difference is 6 years from now, the Canucks will be rebuilding and his deal won't really matter

If we were talking to him from the outset and had the inside track, why did we do this whole dog and pony show and get Gretzky and Coffee to call him? All our actions lead me to belief we weren't sure where he was signing and that we wanted to sign him very badly, pulling out every stop along the way to do so.
I'm not going to read the Nucks thread on Garrison but my guess is it goes less than 1 page before someone contrasts him with "that traitor" Justin Schultz.

I remember how he did absolute wonders with Stoll and Horcoff in the face off circle. Jagr would be a great teacher for our young PwF prospects in yak hall and PRV.

Souray's deal astounds me. Every team in the league could have had him for 1/2 of his 5.4 million, for either 1 and a half or 1 year. 3 years at more just seems nuts.
