He has been strong defensively the past two years, the previous one while playing with Weaver. Even if the 16 goals is an anomaly, which is probably is to a certain degree, a 25-35 point D man with a cannon on the PP and strong defensive game is worth it.

Is Garrison physical? If he is more physical than Schultz, then I like this signing. If he's just a defensive-defenceman, then I don't know about this.

If this is our only defenceman, then I think Ballard will stay as our 3rd pairing.

Not sure if true or not but apparently there were rumours that he wanted 6 mil, so I wasn't optimistic he'd be signing here. Either way he probably would have gotten north of 5 mil per with other teams so it looks like he took a discount to come here. Welcome to VAN Garrison!

Really dig the offensive potential of that back end, however that group is going to have a lot of trouble handling big physical forwards.

I like that he's still fairly young too. Only 1.5 years older than Edler and Schneider.

If he can play the right, then he could be a good partner for either Edler or Ballard.
From the Florida board, they say Garrison was part of their best shutdown pair.

Hopefully he is not a one year wonder, but just based on all the information available, he seems to be a good signing.

His shot from the point is deadly. I don't doubt that he will score 10+ goals with even some pp time.

I always wondered about his defensive game/mobility.

If his defensive game is good, then this is a great signing.
