are we honestly going to debate the merits of someone who scores 4 points per season vs. someone who scores 1 point per season?

it's amazing how heavily a funny mustache weighs when you're discussing borderline NHLers who can fight

Too bad the heavyweight champion of the world can't help this team, you know, win games.

John Scott - 0.26 (2011-2012), 0.25 (2010-2011), 0.28 (2009-2010)

Not that George Parros is some greater scorer, but he's an average 4th liner in other aspects of the games outside of fighting. John Scott is not good.

the point is : the team is soft as salmon. there was a lot of grit out there in free agency... and they came away wit jon ****ing scott.

konopka makes you tougher to play against
prust makes you tougher to play against
armstrong makes you tougher to play against
even parros makes you tougher to play against.

jon scott makes you like stupid

He's garbage in regular duty, can't disagree with that. He barely saw any time with nyr so I didn't watch him there. But it's another body, with size, to throw in the mix every odd game or so. By no means was this to placate anybody, because it is too insignificant to even go down that avenue.

He will play maybe ten games for us. It's a non issue, and to me, a good signing in terms of what you get for the price - nothing for nothing. Please don't overreact.

He will give our top 9 forwards piggy back rides.

The biggest scam ever in universe was when John Scott somehow managed to get GM's to sign him in hope he could be an NHLer . He's that bad.

whats really funny... is that scott is considered an enforcer.

he's a big guy, who sucks at hockey, and learned to drop the gloves...

he doesn't enforce ****... and he's not even a great fighter... he just has long arms and doinks people in the helmet while keeping them at arms length.

Yes maybe, but I think we can suit up 12 forwards who play better than he does on a regular basis and maybe for a few games put him in to make a statement such as put him out against Boston just to go after Lucic. Other than that I doubt he plays more than 5-6 games this entire season, especially with our young guys making strides to make the team

I'm probably the biggest John Scott fan on these boards.

Be patient. You'll like him. He's not terrible on defense, but shouldn't play more than 5-6 minutes.

He's okay as a fourth line forward, but he's slow.

He'll beat almost anyone he fights though, but he lives by the code, so he's not going to jump anybody.

according to hockeyfights.com, he has won every fight he has been in, in his last 3 NHL seasons

You realize his cap hit of 4 million is actually pretty good for a 2/3 guy that Ehrhoff is right?

Ehrhoff was really good on an off year last year.

John Scott a good signing and Ehrhoff a bad one. Jesus I thought Id seen it all.

I can see him in the lineup for the first Boston game and getting his ass kicked by Lucic or Chara and the Bruins players belly-laughing on their bench.

Only problem is that Lucic won't fight him.

Not sure why people are up in arms. It's not like that 600K is preventing them from making other moves or like Ruff is going to give him first line duty with Vanek. He'll play every once in a great while, fight a few Bruins, and be gone by the end of the year. It's one thing to be mad that we haven't made other moves yet, but this move itself is either A) fun if you like fights, or B) so inconsequential and meaningless, who cares?

Good news guys: if Kaleta elects for salary arbitration, we can buy Scott out.
Get him to the top of the CapGeek buyout list for lulz.
