i honestly can't tell if you're being sarcastic

i've never seen so much whining over someone getting paid a hair above league minimum to play less than 1/4 of the season

i seriously don't understand what goes on in people's heads. the first UFA signing of the season happens to be an enforcer and everyone throws their arms in the air " WOW GOOD JOB DARCY YOU FIXED THE TEAMS PROBLEMS ." it's not like there's another four months until the season starts or anything, but by all means guys, lets jump to conclusions and act like this is the only move darcy intends to make to address team toughness.

Meh the videos I've watched on YouTube aren't all that awful.

Could be worse... Could brought back Boyes as a top 6 Forward.

John Scott is a heavy weight who doesn't care about being suspended for instigator, so if someone runs Miller he'll get them. More than likely the next time you play them, as he sucks so much he should never be a permanent fixture in your lineup.

Cheap signing for one of the better heavyweights in the game.

He won't make you tougher, but if you do something cheap against Buffalo you'll worry about Scott. If he's not dressed, then next game you'll be thinking about him. He might force some teams to be "honest" towards the Sabres.

I feel is we had made other moves today people would like this.

A big guy that'll play 10 games a year and provide toughness. Sure, I'll take it. Moving along, nothing to see.

How do people even summon the energy to get upset about this signing. Maybe I'll debate whether the peppermint patty I purchased earlier today was a good allocation of resources. That and this signing are about as equally significant.

Ohz noes, we paid <1% to an enforcer who'll do nothing more than menace Lucic, Thornton, and McQuaid. Who cares? Jeebus.

He will play maybe ten games for us. It's a non issue, and to me, a good signing in terms of what you get for the price - nothing for nothing. Please don't overreact.
signing a player for 10 games is ****ing stupid

but hey it makes perfect sense for this clown ass front office :
darcy "uh yea, we uh needed to get tougher for those games against boston"
media "what about the other 72 games?
darcy "uh..."

Who gives a **** about real money paid when his cap hit is great?

And whose to say he would have signed a 4 year deal?

Troll or Bucky Gleason, can't decide which.

His record speak for itself though. 24-0 in fights.

If it were 6 years shorter for 40M? What kind of cap hit do you want for him?

For 600k, I'm fine with that. Guys it's practically the league minimum

Seriously best case scenario. I'd love to see Chara get knocked the hell out.

Overblown. We need to get tougher to play against. Truth. I would have loved Konopka on this team. Truth. But Scott wins fights, sticks up for teammates, and has zero impact on our financial standing. Don't waste your energy whining about something so insignificant at this time. Really. This isn't worthy of stressing out. At all.

I love that we were so worked up for a signing that we already have 120 posts on John Scott.

Holy crap I am cracking up here.

The best part is when the ice girls come in to shovel the blood off the ice.

1000% behind this signing now.

After thinking about it, maybe the Sabres stick him at LW on the 4th line and just save him for when needed. If he plays 50 games for us next year then I would say good signing. Can he be a worse hockey player then Andrew Peters?

Will Thornton even fight him? Scott is 24-0 on hockeyfights.com in contests with enough votes to declare a winner, FWIW. He will beat Thornton.
