On McColgan--he's small but very aggressive. Not afraid to drop the gloves. Seems like that happens several times a year. He's been more of a playmaker in junior than a goal scorer.
I believe Fox is still eligible for next year's draft.

Jean is eligible to be signed, but has another year left in school. Very curious to see what happens with him. Sounds like the team is interested.

No idea about Goodrow - was he mentioned as a standout in any way?

Gordie made it sound like the Rangers have that they can sign any one of the players they invited to development camp, but, they have 30 days to make that decision. Frankly, Jean and Myles Bell are the two players that intrigue me the most.

I think we've signed draft eligible players before--one of them was Tysen Dowzak--total bust but... I'm not sure of the circumstances. Maybe he went to one of these development camps--made an impression--the Rangers had the 30 day window and signed him.

Anyway Fox is an agitator. He's also one of the youngest players there which should be kept in mind. Jean's size is certainly intriguing. Bell skates really well and can move the puck. Goodrow might be another. Could see the Rangers signing one of them--two at the most.

We need a plethora of bodies to be signed, you are most likely on the money here

Dowzak was signed when he was 20, after he had been eligible for two drafts. After the signing, the Rangers sent him back to juniors for an overage year.

Am trying to include my camp write-up in my article about the draft review. If the powers that be don't let me include it I will make a blog entry.

I do think that Jean will be offered a 2 year ELC. I believe that the Rangers will offer Bell an AHL contract, but not sure that he will take it.

Just watching that scrimmage through a blurry horrid video link, Jean really stood out on several shifts. There were a few shifts where he was the best player out there in my opinion. I certainly hope the Rangers offer him a contract, it certainly looked like he would be a decent fit playing in the AHL as a rookie.

After all of the litigation issues, I'd be surprised if Bell would get an ELC from another team unless it was a bottom-feeder.

Bell and Fox can be offered ELC, but can not be signed to AHL deals as they have Jr eligibility still

Actually, I am not sure if an AHL team wants to sign a player who is 19, and an NHL team is not involved, can they not do that?

Hopefully I will have time to chip in with more comments on the other kids later, but I just wanted to add right now that I wouldn't bet on that we will offer Bell a ELC either.

I do think he has hockey in him, and its obvious that he would have been a late 1st early 2nd round pick if not for his struggles off ice. You definitely really like the way he close the gap, covers the ice and go back and fetch the puck as a D. Like he covers ice without putting much effort into it. It comes down to just being built to play the game. I think he was the best of the lot in camp in these areas.

But, there is not all that much to his game overall (not much size, not much flair offensively, not that physical), and hence he would have been like a 25-35 pick. So far, we might have enough value for an ELC. But you know a player like that is not going to make it unless he really develops perfectly for a string of 3-4 years. And for a struggling kid like that, I just wonder if that's possible.

I definitely wouldn't mind giving this kid a shot later on. But I am not sold on offering the kid a ELC today.

Good news he was one of the better players in that development camp. When he was on the white team Friday, he was the best player on that side in my opinion.

Sweet. Exactly the sort of move that they should be making with all their open contracts slots.

(Also nice to see that it was tweeted by Calle Andersson. Good to see the kids bonding like that.)

You are correct an AHL team can not sign a player from the CHL until they are 20.

How ever an NHL team can sign a player under 20 and send him back to the CHL.
