Callahan was our best forward down the stretch when he joined his rookie season too. The next year he had a stint in Hartford and scored 8 goals.

This particular board has a desire to anoint Kreider the next big thing in Rangerland. I'd like to see a full season from him first. He will make the team. How he does consistently in a top 6 role is anyone's guess. You could say he'd do great, but that doesn't make it any less of a guess.

You want Stepan, Gaborik, Richards, Callahan, McDonagh, Girardi, Staal, Del Zotto and Lundqvist to NOT be worn out and hurt mid season.

Then you CAN NOT operate with Asham and Rupp as you're fourth line. And with two holes on the right side of the defense.

I can see Rupp being moved for whatever, not only did he not fight but he didn't contribute either. I think Asham could contribute more than Rupp. Hell I think Haley could contribute more than Rupp and he is more mobile.

If Asham replaced Rupp that would be fine.

But there is no indication they will dump Rupp.

Considering Rupp's salary vs output in contrast to Asham's, I think its a real possibility.

I mean, bear in mind, outside of the fighting Rupp was brought here for one more specific role. He was supposed to be a big screen for the PP. Yet he was never utilized in that role, or was ineffective. I think that was why he got the inflated salary.

I think the organization realizes they made a mistake.

Never thought I'd see the day where the loss of Brandon Prust has people so up in arms. My god, how do some of you people operate in your daily lives? He was a 4th liner that was replaced with another 4th liner. The way you guys talk about him you'd think we just lost Steve Yzerman.

The holes on the right side may yet be addressed. We have to see.

And, if we add two more forwards that makes either Asham or Rupp a spare forward even before we let rookies compete for a spot. We usually go in with excess forwards. I doubt we go into camp with Rupp-Boyle-Asham the uncontested 4th line.

Amen. Prust wasn't that good. He thought he was more offensively inclined than he was. His skating was atrocious albeit he got around, and his hits were Poti-esque. WTF people

Rupp was playing on one knee most of last season. Still, that 4th line needs something different to it.

This is not the year to depend on prospects to fill out roster spots.

Can't assume Miller is ready or force him, Fast, Lindberg, St. Croix, McColgan all a year away from starting their careers.

It leaves only Hrivik, Thomas, Yogan, and Borque in the minors. Kyle Jean might be signed, he may not. Newburry you know what you're going to get (more likely not).

Wellman? I don't know.

That's not an improvement.

They have time to correct the issue.

My concern is they won't correct the issue.
Every year we lose a guy who is critical to the success of the pk and people are prepared for a disaster. Guess what, our pk has been fine.

Maybe Chad Kolarik gets a chance at the 4th line? He was out all of last year so he would really have to prove it in camp.

Boy, the mentality of this board really changed overnight.

1)The Rangers can't sign Ryan, Sutter, or Nash since it will gut the team.

2)THe rangers can't sign a free agent since all of them are overpriced.

3)The only game plan that makes sense is to bring up all the rookies to fill in the holes. If this doesn't work shorten the bench to 3 centers and 7 forwards.

4)This team was 2 games from the SC playoffs and some key spots were filled with rookies. With one more year of seasoning the Rangers should be SC champions.

5)Where has everyone gone?

name a 4th line we could actually ice that Torts would play so our top 9 won't be worn out. While this has a bit to do with our 4th line lineup, I think it has more to do with Torts playing his top players into the ground. How asanine is it to dress 6 defensemen and have Bickel play 5 minutes a game? Of course you are going to wear down your top 4. Our forwards get relatively going-rates of ice time but some of them took a slightly bigger burden in the playoffs. If we were worn down, it was because we had to go 7 games twice to get the job done.

You infuse youth into your lineup when they're ready and can actually produce in the role they've been placed in. The only team in the NHL that doesn't currently fall into that category is Edmonton, with the slew of actual talent (4 legit young top tier fwd's). You're just setting players up for failure running a team that way..

Would a 4th line of asham-boyle-fedotenko suffice?

Too many slow skaters. I know I will get crap for this, but if you had a more mobile center on that line it would probably work.

Boyle is only going to work with at least one skater with wheels.

Without Prust will Boyle still score 11 goals? Then again, as Dubi returns to form, is it too much to expect 5 more goals from him to replace Boyle's possible shortfall?

Does anyone NOT expect Dubi to net 15 next season?

Stralman may not play in North America. His wife/family wants to return to Sweden.

Right now its:

McDonagh - Girardi
Staal -
Del Zotto -
Bickel

Tortorella gave Bickel four minutes in the playoffs...he's going to play 15 minutes now?

There are TWO holes on defense to fill.

The fourth line is the worst we have had post lockout. Bar none.

And we still need at least one top six forward.

We wasted time on Asham and Haley.

There is legitimate reason for concern. Burying your head in the sand and hoping it goes away isn't solving anything.
Burying your head in the sand? You're a fan you have absolutely zero impact on anything. Why get stressed?
