Now we need Marty to step up and avoid having a 1st half like he did last season, but rather continue his playoff caliber performances. I don't like giving 2 years, even to an icon at 40 yrs of age, but whatever, it's done.

I wonder what happens with Hedberg now. I am not in love with having two 40yr old goalies on the team.

It depends on how much he's making this year. For all we know it could be 3m this yr & 6m next year to help fit Parise in

well his win totals are inflated due to the shootout, but i'm pretty sure he'd have the alltime wins record if you take out all his shootout and OT wins. that's pretty amazing.

Us folks? I don't give a **** what he is making now, he's earned whatever he makes. I'm just happy he will be a Devil for life.

Not at all surprising. It was his first time in free agency at the age of 40.

Yes, he still does. Even without the shootout wins, I believe he passed Patrick Roy sometime in 2010.

I didn't see a $5M signing bonus mentioned... what about a lockout?

2.5.

And when I say "you folks" I meant the ones who are jumping for joy that we got him by any means necessary without considering the consequences. Of course I want him to do well. But at age 40 as a starter I don't think he'll have a better season than last. It's overpayment.

4.5 will be a godsend if Zach leaves and were trying to reach the floor

Marty wasn't going to take $2.5 M. Not when he reportedly got an offer of $5 M from the Hawks.

so you would have rather let the most important player in our franchise walk for $2 million dollars?

ok.

People were just hopin he'd take a discount I guess. I'm fine with it tho, he's earned this contract.

Also, he was super impressive in the finals this year. Don't forget about that. Without him playing like that, we probably get smashed.

It will be like a prisoner exchange.

Ok Stefan, you start on this side of the George Washington Bridge, and just keep walking across. Don't look to either side, just keep walking.

This is probably it. Lou made his best pitch, Zach says you're still in, so then Lou knew what he had left over to play with for Marty and got that done. Perhaps Marty accepting and signing on helps Parise choose NJ, perhaps not. But it (Marty's offer and signing) had to wait until Zach had Lou's best offer.

Marty needs to pick up the phone and call Zach right now. "I'M IN DUDE, LETS GET THE CUP THIS YEAR"

Anthony is, he should get drafted but probably won't be topping the goalies chart.

Well we did kinda get smashed in two of the games. But overall Marty rebounded after a bad start in the Panthers series and was a big reason we stayed in that Game 7 and he was dynamite against the Flyers and Rangers.

I am willing to bet NJ will try its hardest to draft Anthony. I also think this MAY be why Marty wanted 2 years. If NJ drafted his son they would both be NJ property for 1 year. That would be crazy.

If Lou is willing to get Stephen Gionta, Mike Pandolfo, Darcy Zajac and Jordan Parise as the brothers of Devils - he's certainly not going to be scared to try and get Marty's son as a potential solution down the road.

Part of the family loyalty card he plays so much.

If only. I'm not sure what influence, if any, this has on Parise's decision.
