*John Shannon HC "Do not be surprised if Bobby Ryan becomes a Maple Leaf"

Just saw it on Sportsnet and I can't believe there hasn't been a thread made about his statement.

He can play center. I am not sure of the price. I assume that some of our D (they really could use some help in that dept.) and maybe someone like Kadri might be involved in the deal.

Could this be our guy at 1C? His name is out there in terms of being on the trade block.

What do you think?

I'm going to feel bad when Getzlaf, Perry, Ryan, and Gardiner are all playing for us in 2013-2014

This is the trade we should of made instead of JVR. Would cost more but were getting a much better player and know what we are getting in Ryan.

If by some miracle this happens, I won't. It's about time things started going our way.

Or we can acquire both and refrain from "either/or" entanglements.

Wow I wonder what it would cost us.

I'm assuming Kadri or Colborne go the other way +++.

Our line up starting next year. Stanley Cup here we come.

Perry - Getzlaf - Kessel
Lupul - Mackinnon - Ryan
Frattin- Bozak - JVR
Ross - Mcclement - D'amigo

Phaneuf - Gunnarsson
Gardiner - Reilly
Blacker - Holzer

Assume kadri, Grabovski and some prospects got sent in a trade for Bobby Ryan.
We also draft Mackinnon this year as it looks like another non playoff year since everyone else in the east is improving their team.

Both Ryan and Nash are pipe-dreams, and players that hardly fit our team. If we are spending the assets needed to get either of them, why not use it for a centre or goalie. That being said I would prefer Ryan over Nash.

according to his hockey news profile he is a "LW/C".

most good players have played Center at one point or another in their careers.

I'm not sure how Ryan fits at C. He only took 69 last season, and was at 29%.

IF the Leafs could get Ryan, and they convert both him and JVR to centres, the Leafs just fixed the size problem up the middle.

if we were to get bobby ryan, i think it would cost us 2 prospects, a roster player and a pick IMO.

I would go with Kadri/Colborne, Jesse Blacker/Holzer, Kulemin, and a 3rd rd pick.

I can see Ryan as a Leaf.

Burke has stated that trading is the way he was going to change the team this year. You would have to think that Franson, or Gunnar would be included in any trade with the Ducks.

And Steve Ott took over 1000 and primarily played wing...

Oh God. Poor, poor, poor Leaf fans. I feel sorry for all my brothers that they have to put up with this garbage from a media. A media that has zero credibility and morals.

It really has become a big joke. It's like every trade deadline, draft, and UFA is April Fools all over for Leaf fans. Each event roles around and the Leafs are getting Ryan, Richards, Luongo (was to be done at the draft), and Getzlaf -- I could go on an on. We could list 50-100 names that were rumoured to be coming to the Leafs and never happen.

It has gotten to a point where it's sad. Each passing event the Leafs fail to pick up rumoured star and it's like April Fools all over for Leaf fans.

New Leafs coach Randy Carlyle and Bobby Ryan have a history and its not a positive symbiotic relation between coach and player, but rather more an oil and water one that doesn't mix well.

Ryan was often mentioned in trade talks while Carlyle was Anaheim's coach, because he didn't fit into the coach's system.

Besides the Leafs chose to trade for winger JVR, and if Ryan was their prime target they would have attempted to go down that road instead. Perhaps they tried unsuccessful who knows and JVR was the fall back plan.

Unless they want to upgrade on Kulemin, by including him + more in a package for Ryan, I don't see this happening. Leafs need a #1 C and #1 G or even a #1 D as all higher priorities than trading for more wingers the only position they have an abundance of already.

I'd be very surprised personally. I don't see it happening, and it would be quite costly to get yet another LW.

However, Burke said he wasn't done so maybe there's something going down, just doubt that it's this.
