Do you guys think if suter signs elsewhere, Poile makes a move for bowmeester from Florida?
Apparently he can be has for fairly cheap because of his 6.6 million dollar contract. Which we can easily afford and imagine having 6'5" weber and 6'4" bowmeester as our top pairing?
I think jbo is solid defenseman, just isnt an offensive machine (guess he won't ever win a Norris lol), he is strong defensively though and that's ideally what you want in a d-man.
Blum and a 2nd round pick for him?
My only fear would be the Bouwmeester curse. No team he has played for has made the postseason while he's been on the roster... (silly superstition, I suppose)
Jaybo is a tremendous skater, and can eat minutes, but beyond that, he has yet to prove he belongs remotely in the discussion of elite defensemen, which is what he is paid to be. The fact that Flames fans are so willing to part with him, considering the severe talent shortage in that organization, is a pretty big red flag to me. Would be interested to see if Trotz could do anything with him though.

I don't know if he would fit in our system. I've been told that J-Bo would be best in "a system that allows the D to jump into the play and rush up the ice". That doesn't really sound like Trotz to me.

And it's true. Between him and Martin, the latter is a more natural fit. JBo does have superior talent, though I question whether he will ever put it together in a meaningful way.
Definitely going to be between Bouwmeester and Martin if Suter goes elsewhere. Might even make a run at Matt Carle.
Also heard Poile put in an offer for Parise. I know every team pretty much did, but Parise and Suter are friends, maybe he can convince him to come to Nashville with him. ha, wishful thinking.
Definitely a good option if Suter rolls out. It's been discussed a lot in the trade forum. HFBoarders are obviously not GMs, but it seemed most Flames' fans were agreeable to Blum + a 2 or 3 pick.
No one can fill the #2 blueline spot right now as it should be filled. Klein would be a disaster. Josi *might* be able to pull it off, but it's way too much pressure for a developing blueliner and things like Datsyuk's pickpocket goal show he would be in over his head.
Josi could be ready for the #2 role or he could pull a Blum, and then what?
We need a guy who we KNOW can play on the first pairing.
There's only 1 of those guys on the UFA market, and virtually none on the trade market.
Sometimes, you have to make the best of a tough situation. JBo and Carle and Martin all have warts, but what's the alternative? Some FA scrub who's only attractive because he's cheap?

That post was pro-JBo. He is a legitimate top pairing defenseman who would come cheap. I am 100% behind getting him if we lost Suter
