We could be competing against ZERO other teams and our package would still include a 1st rounder.
I guess we will agree to disagree. How about we make a bet? Since we're talking about a 1st round pick, what do you say $1 via paypal...if a 1st round pick is included you pay me...of not I send you $1.
I don't really have any interest in a $1 bet but we'll see. I think it makes a lot of sense for a deal to include a 1st rounder, especially is there isn't a top prospect or top young NHL'r going the other way.
Devils announced Brodeur early this morning. Apart from Ponikarovsky (Winnipeg) and Parise, Salvador, Sykora (unsigned) they've just been re-signing up all their players from last season. So far that's Brodeur, Hedberg, Harrold, Bernier, Carter, Janssen and Gionta.
I have a question, I would love to see Vanek on the roster, much more then Nash or Ryan, on the Sabres forum there are rumors he is going to be traded.
What would it take and would you like it?
Hopefully less than Nash or Ryan. And Vanek, unlike those two previously listed players is the personification of what we need. An inverted left winger. Scores between 10-20 power play goals every year he has been in the league. Boom.
Well if it is about leverage then doesn't Howson have some? I mean even if we aren't competing against other teams, Nash is not an impending UFA or anything so technically Howson doesn't have to trade him. Nash may be unhappy there but he is under contract for several more years- I don't see him purposely ****ing up and playing poorly when he is the captain of that team. He may just suck it up and move on without being traded. Kobe did it, Osi Umenyiora did it, etc.
You are 100% correct. Things could go on as they are. Nash has been very quiet and hasn't forced Howson's hand. Columbus fans hadn't turned on Nash at the end of last season, so things could carry on the way they are. It all depends on how the player and management handle the situation moving forward.
