Christ is Stepan overrated. Ryan is twice the player.

Yup, kind of figured that. No way should they include Stepan.

You ever get the feeling that the Gms are bouncing the same ideas around that we are? I'd only trade Stepan for Ryan if it was straight up. We keep MDZ. We keep our first.

When you are thin at center you don't trade your second best center for a winger...

Well he's young and has upside.

But if we move him we're back to being very thin down the middle.

I think Sather would be more inclined to move some of the names mentioned for Nash, not so much for Ryan. Ryan's production is still a question mark when it comes to consistency.. Don't get me wrong, he has the tools, but Nash's numbers have been fairly consistent playing with lesser linemates... (Not talking Stepan)

Expecting rational thought on these boards is like expecting a high school dropout to become president.

@nhlupdate: Avalanche sign Thomas Pock to a one year deal

Pock back in the NHL. Liked him when he was a Ranger.

Yes, so much better that he put up a WHOPPING 6 more points.

Wouldnt do Stepan straight up for Nash. He is much cheaper, a center, and a better all-around player. Ryan isnt NEARLY as good as people believe. The obsession with him needs to settle.

That's fine Stepan isn't as great as you guys like to make him out to be either.

I'd trade Stepan for Ryan, but not Stepan for Nash.

I actually think Dubi is an interesting trade chip. Part of me wonders if he is included, then does the rest of the Ranger package need to be better, because of his cap hit? If he doesn't get included, can the rest of the Rangers package be less? It might be that Sather insists Dubi be part of the package just to get his cap hit off the team. Just something I was thinking about.

Some guys here make fun of me for talking about when I was an intern in the OHL...but I will bring one thing up about that. Every time we played Owen Sound everyone would tell me to watch what a terrible skater Bobby Ryan was...that always stays in the back of my mind about him.

Stepan just put up 51 points in his 2nd NHL season and is still on an ELC. Even after that expires, he won't be making more than $3 million for a couple of years. You don't just throw guys like that in a deal.

Stepan is probably worse. Very bad first step.

Stepan is what...3 or 4 years younger than Ryan? He has scored 96 points in his first two seasons in the league. Not to mention he never had to play in the AHL. That is better than both Dubi and Callahan.

In addition, Stepan is a player maker and Ryan is a goal scorer.

I'm not trying to be a dick, but you won't get Nash or Ryan for these crappy packages you guys keep dreaming up.

I'm sure every GM is dying for Dubi, and other throw ins.

The Rangers need goal scorers though, not more guys passing the pucks to guys who also just want to pass.

Even if what you say is true, we do not have enough organizational depth to trade him. Our center depth is weak.

I understand that, but if it requires Stepan I don't want them. We have no centers.

I agree...but I honestly think Dubi is much more highly regarded around the league then you are giving him credit for.

We went through the same exact situation when we were trying to get Heatley. Except then it was Staal, Callahan and Dubinsky that Ottawa was trying to pry from us instead of McDonough, Stepan and Kreider.
