I have no idea why we'd need to trade Kane. We'd need to trade Frolik and maybe Hjalmarsson/Montador.

The cap hit will be lower on the long term deal. I would have to think a trade is in the near future for the hawks if this happened.

To a nearly full roster, yeah. Trade Hjalmarsson (he's getting traded this summer regardless, by nearly all accounts) and things are more than fine.

I'm not even sure I want Parise, though - don't get me wrong here. Great player, but there are holes in the roster that the Hawks are better served to use cap space and money on.

Do not want Parise.. especially if it means we'd have to trade a Kane...which is just laughable.

Doesn't seem like the right fit to me. Does Parise have any friends on that team that could lure him to sign there?

Signing Parise might make it more feasible for the Hawks to move Kane--that's all I was trying to suggest.

I doubt it happens, but I'm sure they could extract either choice of Roy or Adam plus some pretty nice futures from the Sabres. Heck, given the drafting of Grigorenko, they might be able to pry Hodgson out for Kane.
I see your point, but stand by mine (and management's word) - Kane isn't leaving Chicago.

If a star winger is traded out of the Windy City, it will be either Hossa or Sharp.
But I don't think either one of them is going anywhere either. There are other trade options if Parise surprisingly does end up in Chicago.

Broduer is a good signing for the Devils. Players enjoy playing in front of him, and he's a fan favorite (the face of the franchise).

For the Devils, he is a player worth overpaying. I'm sure if Parise re-signs with the Devils, he will be happy Broduer will be there.

Nah. Cap wise, the Hawks can fit Parise fine - that's not the issue. It's just that he's not really a need... when it comes to the top-6, it's a center that the Hawks are lacking.

And no, ahaha, before it's said. The Hawks aren't trading Kane for a second-line center
the whole point of signing someone and moving an asset is that you end up with 2 assets. its not like anyone suggested TRADING kane for parise. yeah, that might be a lateral move.

Uhh, no

Budget doesn't mean you operate at the cap floor

Cap hit is irrelevant to New Jersey since they have a **** load of cap space. It's actual dollars they have to be tricky about.

This thread has been fun. So much conjecture and hoping. One thing is I'm not believing any of these tweets unless it's Lebrun or Dreger saying it's a done deal. Everyone is apparently in it, according to everyone else, except the Kings. No way is he coming here. It would be jaw-droppingly shocking to me if he did. I can see Lombardi offering a good contract, but no way is he paying a premium $100m contract. That's just not in his line of thinking.

If Parise signed with Pitts and played with Sid or Malkin, what would his totals be for the year? Does he pot 50+ ?

I think Hossa will be difficult to trade due to his age and the length of the contract, unless it is close to a salary dump.

Worst bottom-6 in the NHL by a country mile, and this is coming from a Blackhawks fan.

That makes sense.

My premise was that Chicago wanted a top-end 2C / young 2C with 1B-like potential.

I don't think you can get that for Hossa, and I'd assume Sharp is too important to the team now to move.

Given the Sabres (fans) affinity for Kane, and given Buffalo's potential assets, it seemed a reasonable match.

I guess Chicago could also just play Parise or Kane or Sharp at 2C.

Mostly, though, I'm spitballing--and I have no problem admitting that there is very little rationale for anything I just said.

Yeah, that's what the 6th-rated offense needs next season: another top-6 winger.
