If he could produce 27 goals with Calgary, I believe if he gets his "mojo" back, he can for sure score 20 here.

I like this idea - I also think Bourque could be a better player if he lined up with Cole.

I'm not a big fan, but the Bourque hate really is over the top. He's a top 6 forward, let's try to find the right combination for him rather than giving up on him so quick.

In the right situation he's a top 6 player.

I think

Bourque-Desharnais-Cole

Could be that right situation.

Especially if the other 2 lines were Pacioretty-Plekanec-Jagr and Moen-Eller Gionta

Although as much as it doesn't seem to make sense any way I try to figure it, I keep thinking of how to get Eller and Jagr on the same line. I think Eller would thrive with the opened up ice

you have to think that there are not enough UFAs to go around. would a team that misses out in need of scoring be interested in bourque's 20 goal production?

cbj? nyi? etc...

Patches - Pleks - Gio
Bourque - DD - Cole

finally give Pleks our best wingers

It's an interesting idea but you don't want to mess with chemistry that is established and proven. Patches went cold for a bit after his suspension and Cole started cold, but if they all manage to start off fast it'd be a heck of a risk to split them up needlessly.

To be honest it's going to be hard to predict anything or any style when we don't know how our possession and breakout schemes will look like. The JM-trap is gone: we won't be seeing Gionta's coveted dump-and-change any more but what will we look like?

Another HUGE x-factor is Markov. If he's back to form he'll give us 20-25min of perfect breakout passes. Also Subban, also Kaberle.

Yes. Yes. Yes.

If those 3 are on 3 separate pairings it gives this team 60 minutes a night of d pairings with at least one d-man who can move the puck up the ice great.

Add in Emelin and Diaz potentially and it's a very slick puck moving back end.

Lacking on toughness, but to address that was too expensive.

Maybe Morris for Gomez, Weber and a 3rd?

Prust needs to be a 3rd liner IMO

Pacio-Desharnais-Cole
Bourque-Plekanec-Gionta
Moen-Eller-Armstrong
Prust-Noke-White

Everyone thinks Bourque goes on the third line because of how much he sucked last season for us but he's paid like a top6 player and has produced in a top6role for years before coming here.

Pacs-Deharnais-Cole
Bourque-Plecks-Gionta
Prust-Eller-Moen
Armstrong-Noki-White

Would any of you bite on a Bourque + Beaulieu/Nash/Kristo (or another TOP prospect) for Hemsky + kinda trade?

I think odds are he ends up on Plekanec's LW. I wish we could trade him, but as for now he's the best option. Who knows, maybe he rebounds? He scored 27 goals two years in a row, that doesn't happen by accident. I think we can reasonably expect 20G and 20A on the year.

Bourque is an inconsistent player who disappears, but I'd take him over Gomez easily, especially on that contract. Plus until this team gets another top 6 winger, we really can't afford to dump any player with a goal scoring track record regardless of their "character"

Bourque was annointed with a bad rap before he arrived to replace Cammalleri who did less for 2X the money.Bourque scored huge in Calgary with their awesome offence imagine how much he is going to do with Therrien as the coach.I believe he will be the kind of "glue"player that helps our team togetherness concept.Rene has the toughness to make the game hard for the opposition and it sounds like he will come to camp ready to prove his worth.Athletes need to be given the right direction to show their abilities and Therrien will be happy with Bourque IMHO.

Bourque is the type of talent we need on our top 6.

Just wait...

Bourque under Therrien.. I see big big things for him.

Bourque`s lazy ass will be kicked to the curbside by the likes of Armstrong(a Therrien favorite), Moen, Prust & White on work ethic alone.

If that is the case, he might be a bounce back player this year.

By all accounts his conditioning was sub-par last year, and very few NHL'ers can be sub-par conditioning wise, and NOT suck ass.

He will be given another chance. Let's see what he does with it.

Potential is defiantly there.

He is here, much like Gomez and Kaberle.

Three problem players. Hopefully Bergevin can get something out of them to get rid of them.

If he can get his **** together and Armstrong can stay healthy those 2 with Eller would make a nice third line that could chip in offensively. Still hope we can get one more top 6 guy so Bourque doesn't have to be relied on to score goals.

Bourque will look great alongside Desharnais and Cole (Pacioretty with Plekanec) in 2012-13.

Imo!

I don't get all the negativism surrounding Bourque by the media and some fans. A lot of players didn't live up to the expectations last season including players like Plekanec. We should wait and see if he can regain confidence this season, because he has shown he could score with Calgary.
