So, once again, gang, the #Leafs are reportedly NOT in the bidding for Rick Nash, nor are they on his "wish list".

Brooks thinks Anaheim would ask for Stepan in deal for Ryan.... Says its probably Nash or no one now.

Brooks seems like an HFBoards fanboy the way he always writes with ABSOLUTES.

I didn't think it was possible to hate the Rags any more passionately than I did before this debacle, but I thought wrong. Brooks' pomposity pushes it over the top.

Couldn't agree more. Brooks is a jackass.

Maybe nothing, but maybe something.

This is what I want to see.... Howson can't really play hard ball with the Nash suitors yet, but if there's one team he can do it to whenever, its Detroit.

If Howson sends him up there, I'm talking a Kings Ransom better be the return....

Hell, I think I might even ask that Jim Nill and his fantastic, magical soup strainer be included in the deal.
It's impossible to know which division we'll be in after the new CBA, but you can bet it won't be the current one. My guess is we are more likely to be seeing the Pens and Hurricanes more often than the Red Wings over the next several years.

Sharks GM Doug Wilson is adamant in his stance of not trading center Logan Couture, someone the Blue Jackets have continued to ask for.

Wilson is believed to be dangling a package that includes the likes of Ryane Clowe, Joe Pavelski, Marc-Edouard Vlasic, and Tomas Hertl, who was drafted 17th overall by the Sharks in this month's NHL Draft.

If this is true, Howson needs to consider this. Lots of bullets for future trades if the UFAs don't want to stay in Columbus down the road.

Based on the last iteration of the realignment, I don't think that is very likely. The only way we don't see the Wings much is if we also don't see the Canes and Pens because the realignment sends Detroit to the East. But I wouldn't bank on that either.

I'm I in the minority to say this whole thing blows over and Nash stays in Columbus for his career?

If this is true, Howson needs to say yes right now.
Unless he can also get them to throw in Niemi somehow, I'd tend to agree.

I'd rather have Greiss than Vlasic. I really like Vlasic's game, but we need a 1B goalie more.

Minority? Yes. Alone? No. I still feel that the most likely outcome is that Nash stays with Columbus and finishes out his contract.

If that's the deal and it's found later that Howson didn't accept, he should be fired immediately, tarred and feathered, stoned and paraded down High Street during Red, White and Boom for public humiliation. Frankly the deal in my mind could be shortened to Pavelski, Clowe, Vlasic and 1st for Nash, hell I might throw in Cody Goloubef in there for good measure.

Man talking about Nash got old like 4 months ago. I've just gotten to the point that I just want it done. MOVE ON.

That package is absolutely unreal. If Howson doesn't take that, he's simply passed Doug Maclean in terms of asinine decisions. My god. Our defense would be one of the best in the league if that trade went down. Plus we would have a lot of extras to turn around and trade for forwards.

Guys, the article says "a package that includes the likes of"... doesn't mean it's all 4 guys, necessarily. Hell, even 3 of those guys plus something smaller would be great for Nash.

I was about to post a question about the perceived reputation of TFP, but I think I just got my answer.

Huh. I always thought it was somewhat reliable, but ill trust you on this one. Just for the sake of me not wanting to think howson is really THAT much of an idiot.

Point is no one knows where we'll end up or where Detroit (or anyone else) will end up. So, it would be foolish to use some artificial criteria, like current division, as a reasoning for a trade.

Trade him to the team that gives us the best offer, regardless of current division.
