I don't think it was a language barrier per say but apparently Antro is the only guy burmi would listen to. I think it's because Antro is older and has experience so he looks at him for insight. Burmi is trying hard I think to learn the language. He tries his best to conduct interviews here and there. Sometimes he is hard to understand but props for attempting.

Good puck possession guy, assuming he plays on the 3rd line that should allow the Jets to spread the defensive assignments around a bit. If he has a decent year he could be flipped for a 3rd rounder at the TD. Good pickup at 1.8M and a excellent bridge to Telly/Klingberg hopefully.

His English got much better over the course of the season, and is better more versus last year.

The article said that the player said that Antro was "the only one who can talk to him," but I THINK it was in the meaning that Antro is the only one Burmi really listens to, not in the meaning that he literally can't talk to anyone else.

They could plug Ponikarovsky in the empty spot formerly occupied by Glass, that of course would mean the "GST" chant will be replaced by PST!

The way I see it right now, Poni slots in the left side of the third line:

Ladd - Little - Wheeler
Kane - Burmi/UFA - UFA
Poni - Burmi/Antro - Antro/Miettinen
Cormier - Slater - Thorburn
(Machacek)

I'm aware of that, but I was under the impression that there was a language barrier there as well.

Ponikarovsky was rumored to Atlanta two summers ago, now he then came to play with his buddy, Antro. They will be in the same line, I bet.

A big, lanky, forward. As a third-liner great. Good signing by Chevy.

I like the pick up. Especially for the dollar amount. He is a top 9 forward, good in all aspects of the game but doesn't stand out in any particular area. It's hard to hate the guy if you've watched him play. He is underrated mostly because of the Toronto Maple Leaf stigma that seems attached to any player who leaves Toronto.

Just need a right wing..
1st line Ladd little wheeler
2nd Kane x x
3rd ponokorvsky burmistrov Andropov
4th Cormier slater mahachek
Thorburn

I'm willing to ride schiefele and telegin on the 2nd line, and ride with them! Normally 1st and 3rd line gets the hard match up. This is a good 4 lines at home games.. Road games... I will still ride with this 2 nd line, our future 1st line in 2 yrs

Love this pick up. Hopefully this gets Antropov and our 3rd line going.

Great upgrade over Glass and the guy has size. Hopefully him and Antro can light it up and quickly fall into sync.
Guess we will see if anything else goes down in the next few days.

Happy with the signing.

15 goals out of a 3rd line winger will be a nice improvement.

Gonna miss Glass and Mason as people, but in the grand scheme they are easily replaceable as players.

I think that's ambitious to hope we get either a second-line center or RW. Realistically the best option for second-line RW available in free agency remains Wellwood. Unless a trade occurs, I think it's pretty likely we see Antro and Burmi competing (struggling ) to fill the second-line slot. I just hope Machacek gets a chance at the start of the year and Miettinen starts as the 13th forward. As for this signing, I think it gives us some basis for a semi-competitive 3rd line, something the Jets never really had last year - RW is still the glaring weakness.

Too short. I would have been happier with a 2 year deal. If he has a great season then we have to pay big bucks.

And if he doesn't have a good year we're stuck with him. There's pros and cons to every deal.

No we won't; he'll just leave for another team.

It would be better to have 3 years of top 3 to 5 picks but that isn't happening , however ever many great players have been picked in the 7 to 10 range , you just have draft very well.

Saying that , Winnipeg may finish lower than last season , I can see several teams that finished below the Jets have more points next year ( Toronto , Montreal , Edmonton , Carolina ) and you always have the chance to hit the lottery like NJ did 2 years ago to move up. Winnipeg also has a lot of picks for 2013 and may accumulate more at the trade deadline.

This is going to be a longer process than most want/expect , we just have to be right on the big decisions. It would be great if we had a prospect greatly elevate his play from his draft position. Why hello there Ivan Telegin

That's the problem. I would have been happier with 2 years at 1.75 and taken our chances. His performance is dependent on where he is positioned in the line-up. Look at Wellwood he got a chance and put up points. If he performs well he will bolt sadly.

I personally think he requested one year.

Antro was a big reason he decided to come here and Antro's contract is also done after this year.
