People getting mad about a guy taking several days to decide the next decade? lol
The Flyers should hold their offers out there and wait like any of the other teams. What are they missing out on? Most of the other UFAs of consequence are waiting for Parise and Suter to sign anyhow, so they pull their offers then do what exactly? Make trades that we all seem to have concerns about?
People are ridiculously impatient about something that really doesn't matter.
Going to Minny to think about it, no way he makes the announcement in Minny that he is going somewhere else could he ? That would be a ****** bag move, my guess is he has picked the Wild.
Things can change, but my sense is that Parise decides no later than tomorrow. He's close. Just wants to chat with family in Minnesota first
I might be reading too much into this, but I have a feeling that this suggests he is leaning toward not returning to New Jersey. Would he really put off an announcement to talk to his family...just to preserve the status quo?
There is nothing wrong with taking time to think about it as this is an important decision, but don't come out and say "I will decide by tomorrow" yesterday then today hold a makeshift press conference about how you need more time.
His contract will probably influence and set precedent for other offensive UFA this year and years moving forward. Seeing what the numbers floating around are, I would rather the Flyers sign a player before that precedent ups the cost of a guy like Semin (If Anaheim or other franchises aren't interested in our offers) who will probably be looking for big pay days (whether they deserve it or not is certainly up for debate.)

Impossible to guess. I think he has an idea about what he wants to do, but isn't sure. Potential scenarios:
1.) I could easily fathom that he is prepared to take less money to be loyal to New Jersey and leave many millions on the table.... I'd consult my family too before I decided to leave that kind of money out there.
2.) He could just as easily be prepared to walk away from New Jersey for an opportunity that they hadn't thoroughly discussed (Philly, Chicago, etc) and wants to talk it over with his family as well.
3.) He could have made his decision a while ago (ie, Pittsburgh) and now he's having cold feet about actually pulling the trigger.

I thought it was already stated that they second tier of players (Semin, Carle, etc) were waiting to see who Suter/Parise signed with to let the remaining teams that miss out get into a second bidding war.
If I'm a UFA of their caliber.... that's what I'd do.

Parise is rushing home and telling his family in a panicked voice to change all their phone numbers so Marty stops calling the house like some abusive partner that goofed and is trying to hold onto the relationship (e3) *waiting for Darren's conformation tweet.

4) He's going home to make sure his family can handle all the attention they certainly will receive for the next 10 years when he signs in Minnesota

Eklund and I were both told by people we trust that Suter would NOT play for the Flyers. I was told NO team in the East but PGH had a shot at it because of Suter's past relationship with Pens GM Ray Shero.

Possibly. His family might be pushing him to play in his home state of Minnesota. Perhaps he would also feel the need to consult with them if he is considering leaving a bunch of money on the table.
