Prepare to be disappointed then. He's gonna get somewhere between Quick and Rinne money. AND HE DESERVES IT, IMO!

6 years, $36-37 million is my guess.

Price is not as good as Rinne, in my humble opinion. And Nashville had to overpay to keep him.

Which is what the Habs need to do to retain Price. If he leaves, the team is in a massive hole, and Price knows that.

If you don't mind my asking...what exactly does a legitimate number 1 goalie "deserve'' then?

How much would Nashville paying Rinne not be deemed an overpayment? What is the figure that you would have thought reasonable?

Price will be better than Rinne. Rinne at price's age was an AHL goalie with a Saves percentage of .908

Carey Price recevra le plus gros contrat jamais donné par le Canadien. Ce serait 6 ans à 6,5 millions en moyenne par année.

The distinction between RFA and UFA simply means teams can't just bid on a player and get him for nothing if he takes that bid.

There's no real difference (when it comes to high end players) between UFA's and RFA's in actuality.

Beauty.

6.5 for 6 years of a great goaltender. I love it.

Also would way rather give him the extra .7 million and not have the bogus years on the end like Quick did in LA.

6.5, you can whine now. I like it. Price is certainly good enough.

The contract makes sense. Now, Price GOT TO deserve it ! Which means a .920 save average, a 2,20-2,30 gpg. 65 games a year with about 45 wins.

I don't think one elite season under his belt merits a cap hit of $6.5 million, but that may just be me.

Quick and Ward, both more accomplished than Price with a Cup and Conn Smythe, make less, for instance.
