Well let's just say he better not have a down year with a 6.5m cap hit.

You don't think Price will be a good No. 1 goalie from 30 to 34?

The deal's a bit richer than I would like, but as I wrote before on another thread, I'm not going to lose sleep over this number.

will quick have motivation to play after a cup and a retirement contract? Price will be the better goalie long term, he's a competitive guy with a chip on his shoulder. BOOK IT. Price still has room to hit another big contract when he's 30 years old.

In any case, glad to have him locked up, overpayment or not.

I predict that with a contract like that he'll be a lightning rod for criticism by 2013.

Right at the top of the scale of what I'd pay him.

Ok signing at best.

Wow. Thats a ****** cap hit for real. My respect for Berg has dropped considerably. Where are all the great contract negotiations we heard about from this guy?

Tax related ....easy to understand

No surprise, Price has no reason to take a discount for those prime years of 25-31.

At 6.5 per year, he could have walked IMO. not worth the money.

When your franchise goalie wants 6.5M you pay it. It may be high this year but in 2 or 3 years when all the contracts are up and all the goalies are re-signing I bet he'll be closer to the average of a starting goalie.

Lets sign Carey Price to a 20 year contract then. Maybe his cap hit will then be something that pleases you.

I love the comparisons to Quick, Ward, etc. being more successful than Price.

It has nothing to do with the team that was in front of them right!? This is such bull ****.

If we get the Price of '11-'12 for the next 6 years, this will not be a great deal.

However if he plays more to the elite level of '10-'11, my complaints will be rendered null.

With the Rinne signing last season, I was expeting 7mil/year for Price, but the latest Quick contract got me thinking that we could have had less... Anyways, it was his negociations, Price had all the leverage in the world... now it's done, time to actually improve this mofo team.
