Derek Roy goes to Dallas for Ott and Pardy. Roy would've been a nice pickup for us.
Agreed. Not really a lot going back to Buffalo compared to what a lot of people expected Roy's value would be if he got traded. Good deal for Dallas to replace Ribs

no kidding not much coming back... I mean, ott is a useful player but at the trade deadline people were acting like Roy would net huge returns
Don't get me wrong, Ott would be good for pretty much any team. Ott is the player Tootoo thinks himself to be. Still, a ~40 pt agitator and a meh defenseman for Roy is a lot less than many thought it would take. I guess Roy's off year hurt his value.
Buffalo has no grit who can play real minutes. Ott is a pest who will stick up for teammates and put up respectable numbers. Pardy ..... well .... he does fill the role as jersey transport around the ice.
Yeah, he had an off season last year. How about the year before with 35 points in 35 games, or the year before that with 69 in 80, or the year before that with 70 in 82...

I imagine Brad Boyes fans said the same thing right before he dove head first into the crapper...

I'm not saying he's a bad player. He would have been an ok option for us. I'm just saying people shouldn't be as surprised that he got such a small return.

I imagine Jason Spezza detractors said the same thing before he put up 84 points last year... Gaborik was bad in 10-11 and then potted 41 this year.
For every Brad Boyes there is a Jason Spezza or Gaborik that return to form after an off year. I'm not saying he'll turn back into a near ppg player, I'm saying it's unfair to base your opinion on a single season.
Apparently Jack Hillen is headed to the Caps.....any scouting info on him?
Cheers
Nothing more than a third pairing guy. If you have a solid #5 then Hillen won't be bad. Jack will also have a brief string of looking pretty good for what he is, but he will never really surprise anyone. His shot is mediocre. His defensive play is about the same. The kid seems to have heart, though. He didn't seem to take it personally when he was scratched, and when he got chances to play he really looked like he was trying to earn his ice time.
No room for The Joker anyway with Fisher, Legwand, and Gaustad down the middle. I feel pretty confident that we're going into next season with them as the 1-2-3. Would love an upgrade though
Now that the already super thin free agent class has become even thinner, is there anyone left that you would like to see the Preds sign?
Parise isn't coming here, I'd imagine Jagr and Semin are out as well. If Shane Doan decides to leave Phoenix, he might be an option, or he might prefer to stay in that area.
Personally, I'd like to see the Preds give Mueller a short term deal, he has plenty of talent and if he can stay healthy, he might be a great addition.
