But just think about this horrible problem we have.

We have so much good young talent that we are having to worry about sending people down and will they have to face waivers.

Guess we can hope one of the new things in the CBA is a roster size increase to 25. But that would make cap mgmt that much harder.

I would rather have Nolan in the lineup. He is Clifford without all the young mistakes Clifford makes. Also Nolan has better hands, and Nolan has some serious speed for his size.

I'd move Richardson before Nolan.

What makes you think Nolan won't make mistakes? They both should battle it out.

Me too, Nolan is a beast on the fourth line.

Well Nolan is older by about two years. Also Nolan has two years of the AHL under his belt. Nolan made very few mistakes during the playoff run.

Clifford took a stupid penalty his first game back, Then went right out of the lineup again (Sutter even mentioned that dumb mistake).

Nolan just plays a more simple game. Clifford is young and still learning, the AHL would be great for the kid.

So sure let em battle it out in camp, But I bet Nolan wins that spot. Or they could buyout Westy/Richardson.

Which is why he stays and either Nolan or King goes back to Manchester. You don't risk loosing him for nothing.

If he made it down he would not have to clear re-entry but could be claimed while going down is my understanding.
Thank you, that's good to know.

I love coming on HF Boards to get my learn on.

I really like Nolan, I really like King, and I like Cliffy. All bring size, forechecking ability, and good hands for their roles. King on the 3rd line is great, I like Lewis but he couldnt hit the net if his life depended on it. Nolan and Clifford flanking Fraser would bring a world of hurt and the odd goal. Get rid of the two bums Richardson and Westgarth and let Cliche get a taste.

You let them battle it out. I still have confidence in him. He did have a good season before this. Nolan played great too. Its not as easy as it looks.

Extremely good since he is already an assistant in Pittsburgh.

Richardson is more ideal as a 13th forward than Nolan. Can play any position and any line if needed

Nolan can play Center or both wings. According to Coach Morris. Nolan was drafted as a Center out of Jr's

Just as they conveniently forgot the Kings finished the season 13-5-3, then went 16-4 in the playoffs for a 29-9-3 finish...oh well, let the myth continue to perpetuate itself...if it translates into back-to-back Cups, sign me up first to drink the Kool-Aid.
Exactly! The analysts always talk about how we barely got in, when, correct me if I'm wrong, we were the 3rd seed and 1st in the west the day we qualified, right? I guess to the reporters it makes better story to have "barely made the playoffs" in the story than "qualified as the 8th seed".

Meanwhile, on another front. It looks like Sutter is down to about 4 candidates for vacant asst coaching spot. No rush, tho.

[QUOTE=damacles1156;51976755]Then why don't teams just take players on ELC from waivers. Like I said Clifford can't be the first to play 160 NHL games and get sent down.

I would be poaching players left and right. So easy to stock a minors that why.

Hell you would probably get a couple first round guys like that. Also I thought that was the entire purpose of a Two way contract/ELC. To make the player waiver immune.QUOTE]

You can claim these players if they are waiver eligible, but they have to go to your NHL roster, or they have to go back through waivers to get to your Minor affiliate.

He is one of those hard ones without speaking legalize. It has been 5 years since he was drafted but has not spent a day in the NHL and the first two years were in Jr. And there are some provisions for things such as this but understanding them all is why teams have teams of lawyers. I am thinking he could be called up without issue it would be sending him back down. But I could be wrong. But if his time in Jr don't count for any of his years then he is only 3 years in and he would be safe for up to 2 more years.

Don't get me wrong, I'm intrigued to see how the all flyers line will perform, but having Gagne as our 2LW means Penner plays 3LW and King 4LW. Personally, I really like King as our 3LW, but Penner is of no value as 4LW.

Limited ice time for Gagne. I still love what he brings. His status will change depending on what we do in the following weeks though.
