Poll: Which playoff matchup do you Prefer?

It seems almost certain that Montreal will play Carolina or Ottawa in the playoffs. Who do you prefer in the 1st round?

I realize there are some people who dont think montreal is out of the woods yet and can still legitimately miss the playoffs. Just play along anyways.

Here's my Take:

I would prefer Carolina. I realize that Carolina has dominated montreal this year. But when you take a step back and examine the playoffs, you figure out just how meaningless the season series is when you get into the playoffs.

Some people argue that they beat us badly in the 02 payoffs. But I dont understand that argument because this team has had so much turnaround since 2002.

Basically, I look at both teams on paper. Ottawa looks far more dangerous.

Carolina has not been in the playoffs for a while so it will be interesting to see how some of their lesser experienced guys will react like Gerber and Staal. I'll take a shot and Gerber rathar than Hasek.

Ottawa should be pretty much completely healthy and have some of their core players mentally fresh and ready to go ie) Chara, redden, phillips, havlat, Hasek. Even though Hasek is older now, I still think he is capable of taking a series all by himself even if the team infront of him struggles for whatever reason.

Believe me, I'd rather not play any of these teams but reality says that we will play one of these teams

Lets hear your points!

I know Carolina beat up all season long, but the sens really scared me... they have a very good line up.

In a best of 7 serie... anything could happend against the Hurricanes.

The Habs could still miss the playoffs. I would settle for any opponent.

I want to play Carolina... that would be an amazingly exciting series since we'd get our revenge from 02.

I also want Atlanta to clinch 8th so we get the Hossa vs Heatley matchup.
Also 2 great offensive teams with very spectacular players.

I prefer Ottawa. Should be more emotional. Of course, a healthy and fully clicking Ottawa will probably demolish us. But there is at least some potential for fireworks and a bit of bad blood there. Whereas with Carolina, while they are equally capable of demolishing us, it would more likely be a more boring demolishment. I don't think we're any more or less likely to upset either of them... it could be done either way if our guys (especially in net) are at their absolute peak and we get some luck on our side... but since there's no way of predicting in advance which team will be more vulnerable to that kind of surprise (if either one is), I'll take the rougher and tumblerer Sens for the entertainment value.

I'd prefer to play Carolina, Ottawa's lineup is just to scary.

It depends on one very important factor: when is Erik Cole set to make a return to Carolina's lineup?

Forget him for at least the 1st round. I'd prefer Carolina cuz their D is not that great. They have an murderous attack and Gerber is not a consistent goalie. Ottawa is simply the best team in this league when healthy.

Well I'd prefer not to play either but if I had to choose then I guess Carolina. Unless Hasek doesn't come back then I'd rather play Ottawa. Personally I see us losing to whoever we play but I just hope they put up a good fight.

I really don't care. I could make arguements for Ottawa over Carolina or vice versa, so.....

I prefer Ottawa... Aeboscher seems to play well against them

I'm scared of the hurricanes. They're just too strong lol... I know Ottawa has better players, but we play well agaisnt them normally, so we MAY have a chance. Ottawa is my choice

We're in tough against both teams.

But a "battle of the 417" will be more exciting.

Can't see us getting past any of them to be honest.

Still I'd like Caronlina, we're due one against them.

Hello Aymand, how's things?

Hello Aymand, how's things?
I'm at work. so that says lots.

But I'm pumped for the Meet and Greet tonight at la cage.

I'm also happy that Carolina won y'day cuz I'd rather have them in the 2nd round. I have a feeling that if Ottawa wins a series, they'll be on a roll and will win the cup. The right time to upset the sens will be the first round.

How you doin'??

Are you coming to La Cage tonight?

Ottawa looks poised to go further this year. Carolina still doesn't scare me as much as Ottawa does. So if I HAD to pick one I'd pick Carolina. But honestly it doesn't really matter imo.

I cant believe people want the Habs to face the Senators in the first round...come on guys this is a legitimate Stanley Cup team and the Habs will go down very quickly IMO...The Habs are due against the Canes and will have a much better chance to succeed

While I agree, the poll is a choice between 2 very good teams. Which is the lesser evil? There has been recent success against the Sens so it is somewhat logical that they might be a more favourable opponent. However, Montreal would match up better against Carolina, damn the regular season results...
