Man, Semin would be another Albatross on this team. We already have inconsistency issues! I know you said rather than in comparison to how much you don't want Nash but many have expressed interest in Semin.

A lot of these Canadian players (and coaches, gm's) grew up with the Canada/Russia rivalry. I don't think it will be a problem. There's no way the hatred is as great.
To add to the Semin discussion. Very underrated defensively, career plus 65 and he can PK.
..and offensively really. His numbers are right there with Parise but for some reason he is getting all the attention. Semin is bigger and can shoot better than Parise too.
Either way, I don't think DW should be closed off to the idea of adding any snipers than can skate. Speed and hands are at a premium right now for sure.

He's not going to come here even if that was the case. He'd be further away from Russia, and as a few people have pointed out he doesn't speak english well and there are no Russian players on the Sharks. As far as I know the only Russian player we even had in the system was Sobchenko until he died. The only reason I could see him coming here is because he get's overpaid, and DW does not overpay for star free agents.
Honestly, I think we have a better shot at Parise, and that isn't saying a whole lot.

I'm not a big fan of signing Doan, but if they do I'd give him 3 years. Then when he wants to retire in 2 years we can trade him to the Coyotes so he can retire a Coyote and thus getting rid of his cap hit.

Depends on the price tag. Will he be an effective NHL player in 5 years? Probably. Will he be a 4-5 million dollar player in 5 years? Highly unlikely.
Yeah but when you take into account that our window is closing and Jumbo and Patty and Boyle aren't getting younger, I say its worth the risk.
The Sharks are in a somewhat similar situation as the Caps. It's time to win now. Sadly, there is zero chance Doan heads East. SJ does make the most sense, it is close to home (he is not going to play for the Kings) and the Sharks are contenders.
I just feel like Iginla and Doan can break down at anytime. They're physical players their whole careers. Players like Whitney and Selanne can play into their late 30's to early 40's because they're fast finesse players. They don't give or take as many hits as Iginla and Doan.

I agree. Too slow for our team and overrated for sure. He was a pretty good like 4 years ago lol. Maybe we should sign Langkow lol.
5 years? Though it is nice to hear San Jose is a leading candidate for a UFA.
