Florida looks like an expansion team with a couple of decent veterans. They will not be a playoff contender.

Durr, meant Calgary. Had Florida in my mind because I was thinking of Jokinen and Bouwmeester. Speaking of which, I think Jokinen and Bouwmeester hold the record for most NHL games played without appearing in the playoffs.

FORWARDS
Alex Tanguay ($3.500m) / Mike Cammalleri ($6.000m) / Jarome Iginla ($7.000m)
Curtis Glencross ($2.550m) / Roman Cervenka ($3.775m) / Jiri Hudler ($4.000m)
Sven Baertschi ($1.425m) / Mikael Backlund ($0.827m) / Lee Stempniak ($2.500m)
Lance Bouma ($0.693m) / Matt Stajan ($3.500m) / Blake Comeau ($1.250m)
Tim Jackman ($0.613m) / Blair Jones ($0.650m) /

DEFENSEMEN
Jay Bouwmeester ($6.680m) / Dennis Wideman ($5.250m)
Mark Giordano ($4.020m) / Chris Butler ($1.250m)
Cory Sarich ($2.000m) / T.J. Brodie ($0.742m)
Derek Smith ($0.775m) /

GOALTENDERS
Miikka Kiprusoff ($5.833m)
Leland Irving ($0.660m)

Top two centers are... Cammalleri and Cervenka (who)? Oh boy. Tanguay is underrated and Iginla is Iginla, but damn. Good luck!

Although I was wrong about Phoenix last year, so who knows.
The only defenseman that is going to earn his whole paycheck is Giordano.

And Cammalleri at $6M? It was a joke when he signed that deal and even more so today.

I'm surprised Parise is able to keep is cool after the reporters continually ask the same damn question after another.

"I'm not leaving today, i'm leaving tomorrow"

reporter- "so does that mean you're making your decision tomorrow?"

after he clearly stated he needs some time.

Disagree.

Flames will be 4 points out of a playoff spot at the deadline. Then they'll trade away what little prospects and draft picks they have in exchange for some marginal talent hoping it helps them make the playoffs.

And of course they'll go on to finish between 9th-12th in the west.

If Doan resigns with PHX, do you think Lombardi will take a look at Semin at all ?

Or has Semin became so toxic ?

After the last few years I am really thinking we need something closer to what the NBA does. Open it up and not have anyone sign for 10 days. It gives players time to make the big choices that they have.

I like Semin, the criticisms of him are greatly exaggerated.

But why would we need him? We already have plenty of wingers.

They don't need Doan ether, but seem to want to add another player. I think they are not sold on Gagne playing a full season. Or they may think Penner will not pan out.

I hate that. Maybe it's partially because my team (the Clippers) got ****ed by it a few years ago in that Elton Brand fiasco. I just hate that teams have to rely on verbal commitments when building their rosters for those 10 days.

Even with out Gagne we don't need another winger

And I don't want Doan either. Lewis's speed adds a necessary dimension to our team. Lessening his role by replacing him on the 3rd line with Doan makes our team a lot slower.

Part of me would like to see that too, but at the same time i'd rather he stay in the east. I'm assuming the current format stays until we hear otherwise.

I can't imagine Philly would look twice at Semin, it's like Zherdev all over again and he had his ass glued to the bench repeatedly during his 1 season on the team. Lavi hated him.

I don't see him signing in Minny...unless I am misinderstanding the claim that he wants to play for a contender.

And no way Perry isn't resigned by Anaheim anyways. Not even Bob Murray is that dumb....I think
when Ryan leaves Perry wouldn't want to stay for the team. He would walk from any contract. Perry has really good friends on the Kings. He would take a shot at a great team. No matter the rivalry. Plus he loves California. I hate him but id love to have a 40 goal scorer with carts and Richards. I know you guys dont like him. Atleast he isn't a nancy, people hate the kings, brown, doughty, the amount of soreness other fans would have with Perry is exponential

Are we really talking about Corey Perry on the Kings?? Never thought I'd see the day.

Now if you want to look ahead, the name that makes the most sense is Jarome Iginla. Needs to get his cup before he retires; not going to happen in Calgary. Plus he loves Sutter. Makes too much sense.

I believe Semin will be snagged-up very quickly after Parise makes his decision. Doan on the other hand is going to wait a while to see how things go in Phoenix

If Perry and Getzlaf hit the open market, you guys know very well that Brian Burke would give up his testicles to bring both of them to Toronto. He's going to do everything possible to get those two in a package deal.

You make it sound like a bad acquisition. Yes iginla makes most sense, because he has a higher chance of joining. But other than that I could care less about iginla not having a cup. I want the team to be long term contenders. Not sign inginla to some silly 2 year deal then have him retire. No thats stupid. Perry is much younger, more of a threat. 5 year contract with him. Id like to see iginla win a cup too, but it'd be stupid to bring him on for a final ride when Perry has longer left in him.

Plus dean looks usually long term, now that we've won he wants to put ahead conistency. How often do you come across a pacific division player who has 40 plus goals and likes players on the kings who is still young. It'd be stupid to go after iginla harder than Perry even though iginla has a better chance of coming here

Anyone suggesting Semin as an option needs to spend more time studying what a "DL type" player is, because Semin is as far from that type as humanly possible.

So you actually believe the things those clowns on NHL Tonight say?

I'm not saying DL would sign him, but most of the criticisms of Semin are greatly exaggerated by the sensationalist media. The TSN bash fest against him the other day was totally unprofessional.
