The Foligno trade

Foligno has been getting better every year and he is only 24 year old i think that the sens will regret this trade a lot. Foligno is fast, he can score ,he can play the pest role hes an improvement of steve ott for me. Why Bergevin didnt try to get him Foligno is the real deal like his dad he would have been sick wit the habs

I wasn't aware we had Marc Methot to trade away.

I'd rather have Dominic Moore.

Why would the Sens help a team in their own division.

Trick question eh? I'll go check with the Leafs. I'm sure they have the right answer for that one.

Now why would the sens want to give him up when what they'd receive would be less than what they ask for... this isn't NHL 12

And the Habs are not in dire need of a center with DD, Plek, Galchenyuk soon and Eller and Leblanc that might become much more than Foligno.

Haha, I go on the Habs board because I DON'T want to hear about how my Sens made a risky, risky move.

I hope it works out though, I like methot a lot I just didn't want to lose Foligno for him.

Seems like Eller and Leblanc is progressing at a similar path. 17 points age 21, 28 points age 22.

Leblanc 10 points at age 20.

Hopefully we can just be patient with them like Ottawa was with Foligno.

I doubt Foligno was specifically available. More like the Sens wanted Methot (or a similar guy to solidify their defense. we don't have one) got asked Foligno in return and strangely the Sens yielded. This reeks of ''Ribeiro for Niinima''.

yes but methot's role is proven, he adds a lot of size and punch. Janne Niinimaa was a replaceable defenseman that could only be good playing with the edmonton oilers. One of the most horrible move of the Gainey/Gauthier era and everybody knows how many there were.

Foligno is great. Would've been awesome on our 3rd line with Eller.

Well theres no denying that. Niinima used to be good however years before we traded for him and sadly Gainey was stuck in the past even then.

Still not sure trading a young forward with potential for an average defensemen is a good idea. Methots much younger than I thought tho, I was sure he was like 33 but he's only 27.

How and why are Methot and Niinimaa in the same sentence?

47 points is a 3rd liner? O rly?

Our captain didn't even break that last season when he played 82 games.

Marc Methot is awesome. Great trade for Columbus, IMO.

I think some of you severely underrate Methot.

The genesis of this trade probably took place during the failed Nash discussions. These guys weren't being actively shopped so I would be shocked if Bergevin had any clue that these players were available.

If we wanted Foligno it would have cost us Gorges and that isn't something that I would care to see happen.

You're right. I think the Sens made a mistake, too.

While Methot is not a bad defender I think Columbus won this trade. Players like Foligno don't grow on trees and are expensive to aquire via the market. I just don't feel Foligno for Methot straight up is fair value for Ottawa. I think they'll regret this trade.

I was surprised to see the Sens trade Foligno but at the same time they need help on their D. I agree that Columbus won the trade though.
