This is my first post, although I read this site daily. I heard through the grapevine at the local rink that Mark Guggenberger is attending Sabres Development Camp!? I did some research on him and he seems to have quite the resume. Could be interesting.

Sabres Prospects has learned that offensive-minded rearguard Cal Hofford will be joining the Sabres next week for their annual development camp.
Quote:
Another unconfirmed name rumored to be attending is 6’3, 207-pound netminder Mark Guggenberger, most recently of the Central Hockey League’s Texas Brahmas.
Ted Black will be making an announcement within the hour on Hockey Hotline. I speculate it's about the camp, as I can't imagine them doing it tomorrow (or later).
Black announcing 10 a.m. - 1 p.m for Monday-Wednesday next week. Concessions will be open as well. Blue and gold scrimmage, 10 buck general admission ticket on Thursday evening.

well, does kinda suck because i like to get prospect autographs and its a lot easier at Dwyer, but I wasnt looking forward to a couple 60 mile round trip bike rides to go watch. I live 10 mins from the arena by bike and since im going to all the Triple a all-star activities, its a one stop destination
I see Drew MacKenzie is done at Vermont. Are the Sabres passing on him, as I see he is not listed among the players at the development camp? Just too much of a prospect log jam on the blueline?
Maybe they see him as more a part of that up and coming core, and want him to get more ice time with them?
He's only a 2-year pro, so he fits their parameters for being part of this. They usually don't have guys who've completed their third pro season unless they're AHLers on the cusp.

BTW vcv's list in the OP isn't the official list. AFAIK it hasn't been published yet, but ~38 prospects will be in attendance via twitter.
I remember something about the Sabres using an NHL games played metric to determine when a player no longer has to attend development camp.
I know they had a year's of service thing which has them typically not have 4th year pro's attending, even if they're on the cusp, but they probably also have an NHL games-played cutoff as well.
I think Hodgson will be one of the guys the kids look to next week. His junior success, his WJC success, his off-ice training habits all point to someone who the guys can emulate.
As for Drew MacKenzie, they have until August 15th to sign him as a graduated NCAA player. With the log-jam, I'm not sure he gets a look, but he might.

Yup just called FNC, she told me about the same, scrimmage on Thursday at 6pm, official schedule will be up today or tomorrow she said as it isn't finalized yet.
Kris Baker @SabresProspects
For those catching up: C. Hofford (Coquitlam), A. Iles (Cornell), M. Guggenberger (CHL), N. Jones (Mercyhurst) among rumored d-camp invites
$10 general admission tickets for the scrimmage will be made available shortly at the FNC box office, beginning at 4:00PM.
Also to note is the tentative public schedule via Sabres.com:

The following tentative schedule of on-ice workouts is open to the public at First Niagara Center. All times are subject to change and any updates will be posted at Sabres.com.
Gonna see if any of my buddies wanna take some of these sessions in with me. Great that Hodgson is there, imo. A little bit more time with the coaches and a few guys who may be on the team this year. Also gives him a chance to establish a bit of relationship and leadership over the even younger guys, such as Armia.
Guggenberger was the tendy for Kelowna when we went to the Memorial Cup final a few years ago. Not a bad goalie by any means. Kid made some bad choices during his junior years but if he's able to push past that and mature as an individual he can be a starter at the AHL level and perhaps a back-up down the line.
