I think it's a bit different here in Fla. Yes, he's made some questionable signings and trades but I think this team is still on the up and up and we haven't had a GM who actually cares as much as Tallon. I hated losing Booth, regardless of what his contract was, but he really has done some tremendous things here in Fla and I am excited to have him. We've gone through so many GM's over the years and not one of them got us to the playoffs, but he has. It wasn't easy but his blueprint is working. We're all excited about this team now, even though right now were anxious to see who he brings in next.
Questionable, because had he managed the team better he could have kept more of depth that was the reason, imho, for them winning the cup.

It's hard to believe he would handcuff the team like that. I think Tallon's deadline for Gillis to budge has already passed. If he can still make a deal for Luongo later on that makes sense for the team financially, he will I think.

Imho, the reason why Chicago was so successful was because they had guys like Ladd, Versteeg and Buff playing behind the big boys: Sharp, Kane, Toews, Keith, Seabrook, Hossa etc.

What I'm saying is, had Tallon managed the cap slightly better he could have retained a few more pieces for a few more years(Before they became 1st liners/top pairing on other teams) and they may have easily repeated.

Dontcha know, it was little Bowman who screwed up with the RFAs.

Yeah, Bowman had nothing to do with that. I'm more than fine with Tallon, and what bad move has he made in is stint here? He wasn't given an opportunity to manage that team post-Cup, do who's to say what he would have done.

Ownership wanted Stan and Scottie at the helm, that was clear.

With Garrison signing in Vancouver, this thread is partially moot. To continue Luongo discussions, please move here:
