I thought that Hertl was going back to the Czech league?
Yah, I think DW will try to get Moore back or someone around the same 1.5M range who could center the 3rd line. I really do not know how they can have Handzus centering the 3rd line after last year.
Yea, Hertl will definitely going back to czech republic, won't see him on the sharks for a few years at best...
I really don't see DW doing anything other than add another bottom 6 with a cup ring and character...or maybe trade the farm for Rick Nash...

im not a fan of moore at all really. where are the goals coming from in the bottom six?
maybe galiardi finds his scoring touch, and as far as im aware he hasnt even signed yet.
wingels has shown the potential ability to get some garbage goals, but for a guy who supposedly has the hardest shot on the team i was unimpressed by his goal scoring instincts. with the amount of games he played last year, you could say he has the potential for anywhere from 25-35 points.
desjardins-less offensive instincts than wingels, but he will be a great 4C for us next year. still 4 goals, with an extended amount of time in the top 6 is worrisome
handzus-dirty area goal scorer, offensive zone start goal scorer
burish-6 goals last year im okay with that from a 4th liner
sheppard-complete unknown at this point
mcarthy-ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
galiardi-based on what he was doing in the stretch run, i am optimistic for him. i think he could hit 10 goals as a third liner, but 30 pts? id like it, but who knows.
so is there anyone out there that fills that hole? makes our bottom six at least a threat?

DW did imply he would let Hertl challenge for a spot. He's apparently NHL ready except for his skating. So I guess it depends somewhat if he works on his skating a lot this off-season.
Can anyone see a scenario where we would trade Marleau + (say Demers) to the Habs (if any of those whacky rumors are true) only to flip what we receive from the Habs to CBJ for Nash? Essentially trading Marleau and Demers for Nash (which also works out to be a similar cap hit?

Why do that though? Marleau is clearly a superior player.
IF my some miracle we could (and wanted to) trade Marleau to the Habs I would want some combination of MaxPac, Eller, or Subban coming back. Hell we can send them Boyle too, but I wouldn't turn around and send any of those assets back for Nash.

Not sure if Marleau would like to go to Montreal but I could see this sort of 3 way trade happening with a team Marleau does like.
Wow, EJ re-signed for $3.75 mil/yr? That doesn't make me feel any better about the Stuart contract. Yes I know the latter was a UFA, but we were almost guaranteed to get him anyway.

EJ has really struggled to match his potential since his drafting. Between injuries and inconsistent play he's got a big question mark hanging over my head. This is certainly a great deal, but there are reasons.

Nothing to gain for the Sharks with any trade involving Marleau with a return of Nash

Agreed. He seems to be headed in the right direction but he's still got a lot to prove, so the $3.75 is probably closer to his actual value than it appears at first glance. That being said, I'm still in shock that the Avs were able to sign him for less than Stuart.

Whoops! I combined Stuart and Burish's contracts to get $3.8 . My point still stands though, I feel like the difference in value between EJ and Stu is a lot more than $150k/yr.
