If you are going to dispose of it make sure you take out the hard drive so you can transfer saved games, profiles etc to a new xbox if you wish.
I believe I got it around 2005ish. Yeah I've already transferred everything as I got a newer xbox a couple years ago when Telus was giving the freebies.

I'm on the same boat. I have a dead xbox 360 elite on my desk. it was going to cost me 100 dollar to fix.
So I just bought one of those slims for 150 last year. lol.
If you read further it says that reflows($35) will last 6 - 24 months and reballs($60) are a permanent fix.
oh ok... I think that 35 dollar think is interesting. Considering the new console should be coming out Christmas 2013?

i think JTAG xboxes are those modded xboxes. That whole hacking, cheating aspect of gaming. For example, on call of duty, you can create modded lobbies. (i'm guessing).

So what exactly is this new machine suppose to do? Will it last as long as my Nintendo I bought in 89 did?

I'm not really sure haven't heard too much about "the next gen" consoles as of yet. This last set of consoles has probably had to been the longest lasting on the market since the old NES.
Can't say I'm surprised. Honestly I would have been happy to see it end after 3. Not sure how they are going to continue on with everyone thinking that Kenny is dead. Overall I think 'm disappointed with the decision to do another season.

That "leaked booklet" was pretty much confirmed fake when they found some of the sketches in it elsewhere.
We know more about the PS4 target specs because Sony is always so bad at sealing leaks, but comparatively we've gotten some pretty good tibits from around the gaming sphere.
Like, it's codename is Durango, it's flooded with memory and will likely be the most powerful of the next-gen.
