In 1989, Jose Canseco was voted in - even though he hadn't played a game all year due to injury - and so was Mike Schmidt, who had retired in early May.

At least their golden boy David Wright will be an All-Star at all this year. Pablo wasn't at all in 2009.

Karma, Sandy. She can be quite the b****. Suck on it.

btw, I'm fully behind getting a Ball Dude in next year.

Because the Giants don't have any fans outside of San Francisco, and the Mets have the support of all of New York City.

Oh Sandy, you funny.

Hah that was not a name I was expecting. For some reason Jeter was jumping into my mind as someone that was injured for the majority of the first half and got voted in.

Honestly if game 7 of the World Series wasn't decided by the All Star game I wouldn't care at all who makes it. Not that I really care anyway since the A's aren't going anywhere near game 7 of a World Series any time soon

This is the most ridiculous part of this whole process. Letting the fans decide who gets into a game that decides home field for the World Series.

That's a special kind of stupid, Bud.

And srsly, I'm surprised all West Coast fans aren't enjoying that the Bay Area just gave a big F U to the East and NY in general. Cry me a river, Sandy Alderson.
My point wasn't to insult Giants fans.. The A's had plenty of bandwagoners in the late 80's, late 90's-2006. You can say the same for just about every franchise in every sport. The Giants ones just supported their players more than other teams.

I agree that the system needs to be changed. The All-Star game is an exhibition game. Bud Selig and Fox got their greedy heads together to get more viewers and revenue, in turn screwing a team over if they have more wins than their AL/NL counterpart.

except that the giants have fans everywhere on the road. Including new york. Mets are the number two team in New York anyway.

If you slide a little further down the slippery slope you could even reach and say it decides any WS that goes to a game 7. Since 1980 9/9 home teams have won game 7 when it was needed.

Bud is very special indeed.

Great comeback win for the A's. Have a chance to sweep the Red Sox tomorrow.

Only 4 games back of the 2nd WC spot.

It starts where it starts in most sports, defense. The A's pitching and fielding have been superb. They have given up the fewest runs in the AL, despite having Brain Fuentes close for awhile.

That James McDonald can pitch.

It just seems like the hitters have the advantage against him every time they come to the plate. Sit on his mediocre fastball and nail it.
