The draft how now concluded, and after spending the last night and this morning reading about our new prospects, I'm more than eager to see these players at Kings Development camp.
Question now is WHEN is it going to take place?
I've also noticed a scaling back on the days of this camp... from one week, to 5 days... and now i think it's 3 days.
hope it goes back to at least 5 days.

The central question heading into the official roster reveal is the status of four European forwards, all left wings - Maxim Kitsyn (Russian born, selected in 2010), Sweden’s Michael Schumacher (selected in 2011 and one of the real stars of Dev Camp last year), Nikolay Prokhorkin (Russian born, selected in the fourth round last month) and Tomas Hyka (Czech-born, played junior hockey in the Quebec league last season, also selected in the 2012 Draft).

LOS ANGELES – The 2012 Stanley Cup Champion Los Angeles Kings will host their annual Development Camp at the Toyota Sports Center (TSC) in El Segundo starting Friday, July 6. The Development Camp roster (listed below) includes both players in the system, players who have been drafted but not signed by the team and other non-roster camp invitees.
All scheduled on-ice practices for Development Camp are open to the public at no charge.
Monday, July 9 will serve as Media Day for this year’s camp. Players attending this year’s camp will be made available upon request after their afternoon workout at approximately 5 p.m. on this day. This is the ONLY day players will be made available during this year’s camp.

out of last years class that impressed me at dev camp was Michael Schumacher. Huge dude with good hands, and still very young.
shore /mersch / andreoff all are solid as well.

McIvor had an up and down season for the Battalion. He showed good positional play and was effective down low and along the boards. He was one of the Battalions strongest defenceman down low, and effective at controlling gaps in own zone. He did not progress offensively as much as he would have wanted this year, which has raised questions about his long-term offensive upside. Projects out as a bottom paring defensive defenceman at the next level

Goodrow seems like a kid who could play the Kings style easily. Poor skater at the moment but could be a powerforward in the future. Think Trent Hunter in his heyday. Definately could be a Kings signing for sure.
I don't know about Kitsyn long term, he ruined a key year in development by leaving/being forced to leave St. Mike's, then he had a terrible year in the KHL, he will be 21 later this year, so he isn't getting any younger. He will be almost 22 by the time he even gets back over to NA and has to adjust to the pro game here. This is the tough part about drafting Russians who aren't committed to coming over like Voynov and Loktionov were.
Will be interested to see how Forbort looks, by this stage of his development he should be dominating camps like this. I'd like to see Forbort have a nice camp, start to dominate games at the NCAA level and maybe sign with the Kings at the end of the season and get in a couple of games, that should be the goal.
Keep an eye on the two Mike's. Mersch and Schumacher. Mersch a Chicago kid has a chance to be a quality, speedy, pest type player at the NHL level. Was noticeably better for the Badgers this season as a soph and has the look of a potential NHL player. Schumacher, got a chance to see him play last season in the OHL. Big guy, very raw, certainly has the size. I wouldn't bet on him being an NHL player as much as I would Mersch, but sometimes these bigger guys need to just fill out and learn to use their size and reach.
Why is Rob Czarnik still being invited to development camps?
Definitely interested to see Derek Forbort in this year's camp. I expect him to be a man among boys. He's battled injuries and all, but there are no excuses this time around.

The Kid is 20, he is a long term project. He is realistically still about three years away. He still has at least one more year at ND( two most likely) , then he has to spend at least two more at the AHL level playing Men.
Defensive players like Drew Doughty are once in a lifetime.

I don't think the Kings want Forbort playing a senior season for UND, because then he could become an UFA like Schultz. And while Forbort is no Schultz, there would still be demand for him.
Hopefully he finally starts to dominate this season and is ready to turn pro this spring.

Highly doubt Forbort pulls what Schultz did. But you never know.

Agreed, but this is gonna be his third year at the camp; he's gonna be amongst the oldest guys there.
But I do agree that Forbort is still at least three years away. Realistically, he'll spend two more years at UND, and one year in Manchester for seasoning. Only then will he likely be ready.
I like Forbort's game a lot; I could see him being paired with one of Voynov/Doughty in a few years. He's a big guy (6'5) that skates very well and has a good first pass. I see him as more a of defensive defenseman, but he has decent offensive upside.
