We like the player
We want to upgrade at every position
I can't speak about specific players
We will still be looking to upgrade via trade
Nonis did most of the leg work on the schenn trade
we had reilly number one on our board, shocked he was still there
Tough to see colby go, we thank the player

Etc etc etc

I plan on watching it just to see what he has to say, however I have a feeling it will be like all the other times when he doesn't say anything new.

Not with McCown. McCown actually asks good questions.

Minus that one there, apparently Colby was told that they have lost faith in his ability to return to a state that the Leafs would be satisfied with. So not really a tough loss, or this thinking at least.

There's a good chance this interview could get awkward.

I know teams like Philly were able to rebuild/reload faster because they had assets they could move, and I know we were hamstrung by the likes of the muskoka 5 for not being able to move them for assets, and I know that no one could have guessed that we would have finished 29th the year we made the Kessel deal, but please....

Can Burke just admit that the plan has obviously changed a few times over the last 4 years? That in light of the fact that his gigantic management team has failed miserably in attracting any free agent talent, and he has (to date) been largely unsuccessful in making deals for top line talent, can we just pull an Edmonton and finish last, keep our picks and move contracts for picks and younger assets and stop fooling ourselves that we are are few moves away from a playoff team?

Edit:
In addition, can we get Burke to admit that he refuses to use the CBA to make his hockey team better(offer sheets to RFAs, burying contracts I.e. Komi, in the minors, etc.), he refuses to play dirty with other GMs, creates bogus deadlines that hurt his ability to improve his hockey club and that after 4 years, his team in anything but truculent?

Largely unsuccessful in making deals for top line talent? Phaneuf - robbery, Beauchemin - robbery, even the Versteeg deal was a very very good deal.

The only bad move Burke has made is the Kessel one, and the only reason this turned out bad, was because we finished a few spots to high each year. Otherwise, this would've been another easy win for Burke.

Kessel deal aside, Phaneuf, Lupul, Gardiner.. our top Defenseman, 2nd best forward and All Star forward, and our top prospect from last season, all were acquired in deals by Burke... where he gave up nothing really of value.

I know I might be jumping the gun, but even the Vanriemsdyk deal has the makings of a very good deal. The kid has unreal potential.

I don't care what anyone says, Burke has done an incredible job, he's only made one deal that didn't turn out so hot.

UFA's are a different story of course, but they have cost us nothing.

Yes those were good trades, but sorry, Phaneuf is not a top D player.

4 years later and we still have no franchise goalie (fail), no 1st line centre (fail), we are not truculent (fail), we hover only a few floor above the basement of the league and after 4 years we have yet to attract 1 top free agent talent to play with this original-6 franchise that has a bottomless pit of money and resources.

Am I wrong?

ahaha

i can almost here in my head "we feel like if we can upgrade the goaltending we have a playoff team, but having said that i've talked to reimer and he doesnt want to give up that job, he's working hard and he's coming to camp to be the starter ... if the season were to start today i'd be perfectly happy to start with reimer/scrivens"

the real question i want asked is what is allaire's status, who is your goaltender coach next season?

i think allaire comes back if luongo comes even though that seems remote now

did he say more size to the top 6 or adding more size in general because that mean's we're adding another top 6 forward to the group.

This will start at 5:30pm after all these mandatory commercials.

And I like the comment - we will ask the questions - and see if we get any answers.

This post is the funniest thing I've read all day.

Mueller is fragile, and can barely play at this point, and Kadri is developing nicely...
