not interested in jonathan bernier also sounds REALLY confident that there are more changes coming. not going in with this roster.

Burke says he's not interested in acquiring another "unproven" netminder. Sounds like Bernier/Lindback were never an option.

Basically no chance that he sits still, still has a lot of work to do (trades)

Am I wrong?
Yes.

Let me ask you - does the fact that we have no franchise goalie automatically represent a fail? Because if you ask me, if it's a choice (and it sure looks that way) between giving away the likes of Reilly, Kadri, Frattin and Gardiner, etc just to be deemed "pass" by you, I'd much rather take my chances with Reimer thanks.

The fact is that franchise goalies don't come around too often. But hey I'm sure you were totally onboard paying Bryz $50 million when he was UFA - right!

On that note, neither do #1 centres. So please - relax - and don't put all the failings of 10 years worth of franchise mismanagement onto the shoulders of one Brian Burke.

ffs Burke they aren't circumventing the salary cap, that's the contract you have to make to sign those guys. Good luck re-signing Kessel if you "don't wanna circumvent the salary cap."

That loophole will probably be closed in the next CBA. I'll be damn surprise if it isn't.

There's always a small loophole, so I wonder what the next one we'll be.

Believes he can upgrade at #1C and #1G. When asked about it, "Yes".

I just started listening, that's all I need to hear.

I'm loving Burke on wanting to get bigger and playing more of a cycling, forechecking game. Less run and gun. Right in line of what I want to see where the Leafs are headed.

No more guys circling the blueline, more guys going in straight lines.

Those contracts will probably be outlawed anyway.

- didn't like the prices/terms on most UFAs
- sees McClement as our third line center
- looking at upgrading the goaltending but so far the price hasn't been right, we'd be shoring up one position but creating holes elsewhere
- not interested in Jonathan Bernier (didn't mention him by name but that was the implication)
- won't sign a player to a long-term (i.e. 10-year) deal but doesn't object to other teams doing it
- does however object to 'cap-circumventing' contracts where the salary drops drastically towards the end, feels they will be addressed with the new CBA
- wants to get bigger guys to play Carlyle's system, JVR adds size to the top-six but we need more sandpaper
- believes we can upgrade at center, there are a number of guys available

Nothing new for the most part.

Lol, he had to hang up from talking to another GM to go on air with McCown. Says there is a lot of chatter.

Something big is coming for sure, im feeling it >.<

Please land Paul Statsny...

Lupul-Statsny-Kessel
JVR-Grabo-Kulie/Frattin/Kadri/Macarthur

Would be an awesome top-6.
