The Official Jaromir Jagr Discussion Thread

Quote:
The Dallas Stars announced today that the club has signed forward Jaromir Jagr to a one-year, $4.55 million contract for the 2012-13 season.

Jagr, 40, is one of the most prolific scorers in NHL history, placing first all-time in overtime goals (16), second in game-winning goals (114), eighth in points (1,653), 11th in goals (665) and 12th in assists (988). Among active NHL players, Jagr is first in points, goals, assists, plus/minus (+280) and game-winning goals (114), and second in games played (1346) and power play goals (189).

The native of Kladno, Czech Republic, spent the 2011-12 campaign with Philadelphia, placing third on the Flyers in points (54), assists (34) and power play goals (8), and fifth in goals (19).

"Jaromir Jagr is, without a doubt, one of the best players in the history of this league, and he demonstrated last season that he remains incredibly skilled, productive and valuable,” said Dallas Stars General Manager Joe Nieuwendyk. “We see him fitting into our top two lines and contributing heavily to our offensive attack. We’re very excited about adding a player of Jaromir’s caliber to our club.”

We might actually have a functional power play this year. I don't know how to react to this.

Wow, just wow. He's old and so, blah, blah. I can't believe it. So many childhood memories. Well done Joe. Pumped for next season. No more Morrow in Top 6. So much offensive firepower.

Hi Stars fans, I am a big fan of Jagr and I think he'll help a lot with your 30th ranked powerplay. He is a PP magician.

I know this was many years ago, but just look at these highlights on the PP.

I hope he does really well.

So, with Whitney and Jagr in and Otter out...you guys foresee a coaching style adjustment here? Should have waited until the elation dies down, sorry, but just curious what the fans think...not exactly Selke winners in Whitney and Jagr here...thoughts?

Yeah we've overpaid for Whitney and Jagr, but god damn is this going to be one entertaining team to watch.

Now upgrade that defense and call it a summer Nieuwsy. You done well

Why is that important? Our PP was the worst ever in franchise history last season. The additions of Whitney, Roy, and Jagr help that immensely. There are pieces to handle the defensive aspect of the game in Morrow, Eriksson, Benn, Fiddler, Nystrom, and Vincour.

Gulutzan is like 4 months older than Jagr

should be an interesting room with some of these veteran presence guys.

Vincour must be over the moon

Wow, talk about a dream that comes true about 10 years late! Still awesome though. Great that it is a one-year deal. PP on paper looks dangerous. Benn has to high fiving everyone he meets right now. Him and Roy both will play with quality wingers. Just awesome.
